The comedian got a tweet from a stranger with a single derogatory term. Rather than responding in kind, she took the high road and what ensued is worth reading.
At the risk of sounding like I don’t approve of Silverman’s actions and the outcome of this exchange, I find these sort of stories terribly depressing.
This is presented as a “feel-good” story and I am annoyed at the shallow treatment. This is in the same category as the occasional “someone left a huge tip” story. Some lucky not terribly well-off person happens, for some reason, to catch the attention of someone more fortunate and we’re supposed to feel good about it. What about all the other not terribly well-off people who didn’t catch some benefactor’s attention?
That’s where we as a whole should come in -- we collectively can be generous to those less fortunate. That would be a real “feel-good” story.

Sunday Afternoon,
I think the point is not that one person got helped but that not responding in kind to insults can be produce better results.

@Mano,
Thanks for the reply -- I’ve obviously got my grouching hat on this morning…
