Now that direct attempts at repealing and replacing Obamacare have been stymied at least for awhile, the author of the latest failed move Lindsey Graham admits that he had little or no idea about health care or what he was doing. And why should he? Their only goal was to kill Obamacare, not provide health care to people.
Donald Trump will now ramp up the secondary assault that is already underway by sabotaging Obamacare by making it more expensive and more difficult to enroll in, by reducing the navigator program that helped people understand their options, by cutting the advertising budget that let people know when the deadlines are and what they need to do, and cutting back the enrollment period.

I think the thing that captures best the sheer meanness is the order to shut down the enrollment website for 12 hours every Sunday for ‘maintenance’. They have to know that no one, absolutely no one, however clueless they are about technology, will believe that reason. As Kevin Drum says, “Shutting down the website weekly never would have occurred to me, so I think I just have to admit that Republicans are way better at creative ratfuckery than I am and leave it at that.”
One has to be truly dead inside to be able to come up with an idea like that.
I’m surprised the shutdown is only (allegedly) for 12 hours each week. I guess they must have very good (or at least fast) English–Russian translators. Although why the data has to translated before being shipped in bulk is mystery.
Any complaints about the shutdown will be answered with reminders of the ACA web startup problems -- proving (as if anybody needing convincing!) that this, like everything, is All Obama’s Fault™.
About the “maintenance”, the common saying only prohibits fixing things that aren’t broken. It doesn’t prohibit just outright breaking them.
