We have entered a period in which democracy, with all that it connotes about respect for the rule of law and human rights, and that had been in decline in the US for some time, has rapidly degenerated, the label now merely a veneer slapped on an emerging autocracy. I share with commenter Smokey the concern that some of the things that I post under the category of humor are really quite terrifying. But I decided to go with the intent of the creator and if that person is a humorist, then humor it is.

Unfortunately I think you might be correct.
I am terrified.

This is definitely humor. It’s distanced from the actual situation, and good political satire. It’s caricature, exaggerated for effect. They did that to Dubya, too.
But seeing Dubya himself in action on the screen wasn’t frightening. You recognized the human, the politician that made dubious decisions for political reasons. You might disagree with him, but he was still recognizably human.
Not so Trump. He’s like uncanny valley personified. He pretends to be human, but fails. If I ever were to believe in the lizard people, this is the time. There’s something wrong with him. He’s deluded, he’s disconnected from the real world, and worst of all, he’s unmanageable by his handlers.
When I see him on the screen, when I listen to his incoherent babble, he genuinely frightens me. He’s obsessed with irrelevant and unimportant details, and is unable to grasp any kind of big picture. He hasn’t discovered the connection between cause and effect.
This is the most powerful man in the biggest military force in the world ruled by finance, supported by uncompromising dominionists, and heavily influenced by biased conservative news and talking points.
Real life is becoming a caricature of the jokes.
