IMHO, the best rendition of the work is E. Power Biggs on the organ. There is much controversy as to whether the work was actually written for the organ and even if Bach was the composer.
They managed to get both the tocatta and the fugue in just 1:22.
Here is probably the best known rendition of Bach’s Tocatta and Fugue in d Minor. It’s from Disney’s 1940 movie Fantasia with Leopold Stokowski conducting the Philadelphia Orchestra.

Very good, and it looks like a hell of a workout.
Awesome, but it needs MOAR METAL. (I’d love to hear, say, Iron Maiden cover that one…)
