Can anyone harbor even the slightest illusion that the US Senate is the ‘world’s greatest deliberative body’, as it frequently boasts itself to be, after this latest episode. It happened when Louisiana senator David Vitter decided that he would block senate business until he got his way.
Vitter, a Louisiana Republican, has infuriated Democrats this week by commandeering the Senate floor, demanding a vote on his amendment repealing federal contributions to help pay for lawmakers’ health care coverage.
But Democratic senators are preparing a legislative response targeting a sordid Vitter episode. If Vitter continues to insist on a vote on his proposal, Democrats could counter with one of their own: Lawmakers will be denied those government contributions if there is “probable cause” they solicited prostitutes.
This is because Vitter has a prostitution problem in his past.
This is playground taunting dressed up in high-falutin language.
And if that was not enough, the US is now exporting its idiocy. The Daily Show reports that the three stupidest people in America recently went to Egypt. Haven’t the people of that country suffered enough? What have they done to deserve this?

The Bachmann/Gohmert/King debacle is the most bizarre thing I’ve seen in a while. It would be hilarious if it weren’t this dangerous.
The ‘best’ part: Gohmert quotes Thomas Paine. Yes, the Thomas Paine who wrote ‘The Age of Reason’, and whom Teddy Roosevelt called ‘a filthy little atheist’.
Thomas Paine, Louie ‘Christians are persecuted’ Gohmert. Still trying to wrap my head around this one.

A bunch of hateful creeps; the ideal representatives for a population of 200 million.

I had to stop watching when I Louie Gohmert quoted Thomas Paine. I was painfully embarrassed for my country and even for these three clowns.
