Some of you are having difficulties with the video clips. There could be a whole host of reasons for this but one easy thing to do is to go to the website Qualys. It checks to see if your browser plug-ins are up-to-date and if not directs you to the appropriate site to download the update.
I do this every few months or so.

Firefox checks the plugins and add-ons every time a new version comes out and notifies you if an updated version is required.

An additional plugin to check on other plugins? No thanks!
As colnago80 points out, with standard settings, there’s an automatic check every time Firefox is started.

Qualys is not a plug-in. It is a website that scans your browser features.
Nathaniel Frein says
The site does actually offer a plugin to do the service “better”. But you can also just run a quick web app through the site.

Indeed. however, it does this by installing a plugin. You probably cannot see this because you have already installed the plugin. Someone who has not installed said plugin is greeted by a description of a three part process. The first part is as follows:

Sorry, I just saw the big green “Install plugin” button and stopped reading.

I just used the Qualsys checking service, then looked at my Firefox Add-ons Manager: nothing from qualsys there (in either extensions or plug-ins).
Possibly the Qualsys plug-in enables automatic browser checking, or provides the functionality needed to fulfill the “and OS” component described in your quotation?

I didn’t get a separate plug-in.
It even correctly identified the 11.2 version of the flash plugin as current (which it is for my OS -- for windows the current maintained version is 11.8). All it checked for me was flash and the browser version though. Might be due to not running an awful lot of plugins or it simply not knowing what to do with the mplayer plugin pretending to be windows media, realplayer, quicktime, and divx.
