Snowden receives papers to leave Moscow airport

It looks like the paperwork for temporary asylum has been finally approved that allows Edward Snowden to leave the confines of the Moscow airport. [Update: Or maybe not.]

Meanwhile, Jonathan Turley describes how, as usual, the US media seems to be adopting a stance that accommodates the desires of the US government, such as not mentioning former president Jimmy Carter’s damning critiques of the state of US democracy, sneering at Snowden’s choice of countries for asylum and absurdly urging him to return to the US, not reporting that Snowden has just received a whistleblowing award given by the Association of German Scientists (VDW) and the German branch of the International Association of Lawyers Against Nuclear Arms (IALANA), and. This award comes with a monetary prize which I am sure will help Snowden.

Should we be surprised that under this barrage of government propaganda, the US public’s views of Snowden are turning against him?

Yeah, the sneering about his choice of countries is insanely stupid. I wish he’d reply to that:
“A country with a bad history of human rights is better than a country with an active policy of abusing prisoners. Duuuuh?”
