In my mind, what makes the entire TSA enterprise corrupt, is the money spent relative to avoid the risks of a plane bombing.
The main reason 9/11 terrorists used airplanes, is because they could take over the cockpit and use them as guided missiles. Cockpit improvements have made that extremely difficult to do today.
Today, an airplane is just a collection of dozens of people who can be blown up. We find collections of dozens of people who can be blown up in many places, but don’t spend anywhere near as much money on security.
In fact, a waiting line to go through the scanners is a large collection of people at the major airports. A suicide bomber could kill just as many people and stop air travel much easier while the TSA is busy patting others down.
