Kristi Noem has been taken out to the gravel pit

We knew it had to be inevitable: Noem has been fired. All that cosmetic surgery and dental work to please her boss didn’t help.

Unfortunately, she’s being replaced by Markwayne Mullin, one of the dumbest sad-sack MAGAs in the Trump camp. This must be the smell of war he’s been talking about.

Questions remain: will Kristi ever get her blankie back? What about her boy toy, Corey Lewandowski? I hope there’s a camera crew around when she knocks on the door of her husband, Bryon.

And of course, we all want to know who the next cabinet member to get two bullets to the back of the head will be. Markwayne is new, but I think he’s in a good position for it.

Alas, she hasn’t been fired so much as laterally transferred to another grift. She’s now going to be the “Special Envoy for the Shield of the Americas”, whatever the hell that is. So she’s out at DHS because she tried to defend herself by essentially blaming Trump for some of her grifting and we all know how much Trump hates taking the blame for anything. But at the same time, she’s a loyal toady who will do anything the Orange Despot wants, so this new gig will probably involve some type of performative violence by her underlings, just as in her last job. They just may be performing that violence in other countries instead of our own.

So much for the “best cabinet ever”.

Did Dumb Don dump her because she was having bed parties without him? Does she keep the flying bedroom? Or does Markwayne get that? And if so, who will he have along for the…ride (bada boom)?

    So many questions.

Note that Pam Bondi might be up for the axe next. She’s got some splainin to do to the House about the unmentionable files, and her show didn’t go over well the last time. And this time she can’t point at the Dow being at $50,000 because it ain’t…it’s below $48k, down like everything else and probably heading further south like everything else…except gas prices.

  3. Snarki, child of Loki says

Clearly, Noem should have shot The Old Yeller, when she had the chance.

AND “Markwayne” seems like an attempt to avoid a middle name of “Wayne”, which is known to be a sure indicator of a serial killer.

  4. raven says

    She won’t be missed.

OTOH, I’m sure there is another MAGA just as horrible to take her place.

ICE/CBP’s new job is as the secret American Gestapo thugs and terrorists.
When they aren’t hunting down dissidents, they are in charge of ethnic cleansing and the low budget concentration camps in converted warehouses.

  5. crivitz says

It doesn’t matter who the head of DHS is. The administration purposely puts incompetent knuckleheads like Noem and Mullin because they are meant to be the sacrificial lambs (or puppies as it were) and they’re too stupid to realize that’s why they got the job in the first place. Steven Miller is the actual monster in charge of DHS and probably a lot of the rest of the executive branch and he needs a fall guy to throw under the bus when it’s convenient.

  6. birgerjohansson says

Markwayne Mullin can look forward to a career prominently displayed in South Park. Between fake masculinity Hegseth, staring weirdo Patel and what the hell Kennedy is, he will have to work hard to stand out. Any chance he belongs to a weird Christian sub-cult?

Hemidactylus, FYI: your URL includes embedded tracking.

The si parameter in YouTube URLs is a unique, alphanumeric tracking ID appended to shared links to identify who shared the video, who clicked it, and from which platform. It enables Google to build a “social graph,” linking sharing and viewing accounts to track off-platform engagement and analyze user behavior.

https://www.youtube.com/shorts/vFLKleJHc2M is the actual video, without the tracking parameter.

No doubt Trump got tired of boinking her. If she’d been the blonde bimbo he prefers, she might have lasted longer.

As critivz@6 says, this is the Trump method. It applies equally to his many corporate bankruptcies, which he extolled as great business skills…he dumps all the debt into the businesses that go bankrupt after siphoning off any assets. His MAGA entourage has no idea that their role is to take the hit for him when things blow back, at which point he ties the weight of his terrible decisions to their leg and tosses them overboard.

I think the tough-sheriff bluster, cruelty, and violence she projected were all positive features in Trump’s mind. Shooting her dog showed she wasn’t to be messed around with. Posing in front of immigrants held in a cruel prison showed she means business. Ordering the murder of citizens was a good thing, as it sent a warning to the left-wing woke. Even the grift of wasting government funds on her glorification is consistent with the Trump ethos. But the blanket story was an embarrassment. Wimps gotta go.

Thanks for that info. I was unaware of that. I’ll try to eliminate that tracking crud in the future.

@7. birgerjohansson : “Any chance he belongs to a weird Christian sub-cult?”

    Lessee, checks wikipage ..

Hmm.. no reference to his religion although “Mullin is an enrolled citizen of the Cherokee Nation,[98] and one of four Native Americans serving in the 119th Congress.” Whether that says anything I dunno – likely not. He’s clearly hateful, transphobic anti-abortion and far reichwing anyhow. Would’ve imagined that growing up Cherokee might have made him not like that & more liberal and empathetic and better as a person but then individuals and their choices and personal circumstances I guess.

    OTOH he’s this klown :

On June 26, Mullin challenged O’Brien to a fight for charity via Twitter in response to an earlier tweet by O’Brien.[70] On November 14, when O’Brien again appeared before the committee, Mullin challenged him to fight, saying, “you want to run your mouth? We can be two consenting adults, we can finish it here” and demanding that O’Brien “stand [his] butt up”. This came after Mullin read aloud a tweet of O’Brien’s, posted in June, in which he called Mullin a “cowboy,” told him to “quit the tough guy act,” and invited Mullin to find him “anyplace, anytime;” after Mullin stood up from his seat and began moving toward O’Brien, Sanders broke up the argument, saying: “No, no, sit down! Sit down! You’re a United States senator!”

PS. Good riddance to the Puppy-killer Noem but yeah, ALL the Trumpists are vile scum.

Also yeah, Shadow POTUS Miller really runs the show and is an outright nazi so there’s that.

  14. StevoR says

PPS. Seems Mullin is another pick based on who Trump thinks looks good on TV. Like Kegsbreath and others..

(Which thing, um, I learned by seeing on TV news. PBS? Aussie ABC?) Guess Planet America willbe discussing this tonight or Monday now..)

The American AWACS replacement has also been taken to the gravel pit.
    (Crossposted with the infinite thread)

“JUST IN: France Picks Saab’s GlobalEye After NATO’s E-7 Collapses!”

The Swedish GlobalEye is using a Canadian airframe from Bombardier (more famous for propellers). This will be the replacement for AWACS.

I see Trump has put a lasting imprint on NATO, just not in the way he intended.

What is ‘Shield of the Americas’? Kristi Noem takes new role after DHS ousting

Information is limited on the Shield of the Americas and the role Noem might play in her new position, though Trump described it as a “security initiative” in his post announcing the job switch.

According to the post, more information about the security initiative is set to be announced March 7 while at the Shield of the Americas Summit. It is unclear if Noem will be present at the summit.

  17. says

I suspect Shield of the Americas will be an attempt by Trump to get more money for his useless Golden Dome missile defense program. Because ballistic missiles are such a big threat to Honduras and Trinidad and Tobago.

  18. robro says

StevoR @ #14: Mullin was born in Tulsa, OK and grew up around there. That’s Cherokee country after the relocation. Many people from the area…like my wife…have Cherokee or Muskogee roots. I don’t think getting registered is difficult. My wife interviewed Wilma Mankiller, Principle Chief from 1985-1995, for a newspaper story many years ago and Mankiller encouraged her to register as her maternal grandfather was Cherokee or Muskogee. I don’t think being registered indicates much.

Trump’s cutting off her ambitions to run for president in 28 while not completely getting rid of her so she doesn’t feel inclined to release some of the missing Epstein Files.

  20. Doc Bill says

Well, to my surprise, professional dolt and ignorant nincompoop MarkWayne Mullin was not on my Bingo Card to replace Noem. Mullin makes Louie Gohmert (remember that moron?) look like an effing genius, a McArthur fellow, in comparison. All we’re going to hear from this rubber stamp puppet is one blustering excuse after another. They must sit around the Oval Office and say, “Who’s the worst person we can think of? OK, got it, now find someone even worse.”

  21. says

“Markwayne” seems like an attempt to avoid a middle name of “Wayne”, which is known to be a sure indicator of a serial killer.

    (Snarki@4)

You say that like it’s a bad thing — as long as you thump your Bible enough and you’re killing the right kind of people (like immigrants and libs, as appears to be the mission of DHS), that’s just fine in Oklahoma politics. Backing up the bluster with competence is somewhere between “irrelevant” and “actively discouraged.”

  22. drmarcushill says

The bizarrely named new job is a way to make Trump look like he didn’t make a mistake by appointing Noem in the first place. Nobody else will ever be appointed to it, and she will be quietly sidelined when Trump reckons his base will actually believe him when he claims he never met her. Middle of next week, maybe.

“Special Envoy for the Shield of the Americas”

watch, she’ll be wearing spandex any day now.

@9 John Morales warned of G00GLE tracking and provided a safe alternative link.
Thanks John. There is way too much spying on all of us now.

Also, I think “Special Envoy for the Shield of the Americas” is referring to tRUMPs imbecilic trillion dollar ‘golden dome’ protection scam.

  25. says

Also, there are so many articles where they are already replaying markwayne the mullet-brain’s blunders. ROFLMAO. But, it’s not really funny. I’m sure even with his pea-sized intellect he will continue the murderous tradition of the tRUMP admin.

  26. KG says

    drmarcushill@24,

That’s my hunch too. I think it may finally have got through to Trump that when he dismisses some minion and then disses them as useless, incompetent, stupid, etc., as he did constantly during his first term, it reflects badly on his own judgement (many people have made this point against him). So now for every minion he wants to get rid of, he’ll invent some high-falutin new job title, which will disappear down the memory hole as soon as they’re out of the news.

Ah, thanks. I didn’t know that & wasn’t sure. It just struck me as curious given the Trumpists hatred of pretty much all minorities & DEI and Cherokee & general Native-American history of which I know far too little.

Everyone should be aware that Kristi Noem wasn’t fired for DHS crimes but for telling the truth, when she told the Senate Committee that Trump had approved the very expensive PR videos she made (paying the company of her spokewoman’s husband) rather than taking the blame instead of him for the expensive waste.
