Actually, septum ornaments aren’t that rare these days. It was relatively popular among punks back in the day, and they continue to be a fashion statement item.

Impractical for northern Scandinavia in winter. They would get in the way of blowing the nose.

“I think this kind of jewelry would be uncommon nowadays. And expensive.”

    Have you checked etsy yet?

“They would also get very cold very fast. Look at all that surface area for radiating heat!”
Maybe that was the point? Gets pretty warm in Peru? But unlikely to be useful, I guess, once the ambient rises above body temperature.

I actually find body jewelry quite attractive myself. Especially in the right places… (Lecherous eyebrow wiggle)

Ok, is it just me on my ancient browser, or is YouTube requiring everyone to sign in to watch all videos, not just age restricted ones? I’m getting a message, “Sign in to confirm you’re not a bot. This helps protect our community.” Bleh. Like bot accounts can’t be signed in. I just started getting this today.

  7. Snarki, child of Loki says

Bots compulsively watch cat videos, bogging down the Youtube servers and clogging internet bandwidth, right?

Well, that’s what I would do, if I were a bot.

Or maybe compulsively watch episodes of “Sanctuary Moon”.
    But probably the cat videos.

    Are those spiders parabolic?
You could use them to focus sunlight to start a fire.

Damn, why don’t prestigious institutions, such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art, of all places, put scales with artifacts. Something. For scale. We have no idea of the size of this beautiful piece, or any of the other ones in the background. Oh, I guess that would ruin the precious photography/videography.

birgerjohansson @11 Bovino out is a start but just a start, of course. Mere damage control but at least they’re starting to feel some damage.

  12. Ridana says

10 @Snarki: Ok, but does that mean everyone is now getting that message if they’re not signed in, or just me? I don’t know who to be mad at.

I guess that’s it for me either way, since YT won’t let me log in or make an account without giving me an error, try later screen.

Just go to The Met and see for yourself.
    How hard would that be?????

Ridana@17: “YT won’t let me log in or make an account without giving me an error, try later screen.”
I too get the “error, try later” message, but if I then reload the YT page (a random non-age-restricted science video from my feed) it all seems to work. I’m already logged in, so can’t test that part.
