How could they pass me over?

Too true — all these unqualified boobs are getting appointed to positions of power.

I am so disappointed. When I became an associate professor, I was told that I get to have all the power.

Maybe once they get done handing out titles to TV personalities, and then podcasters, and then YouTube personalities, and then Tik-Tokkers, they’ll get around to passing out a few token titles to bloggers at the bottom of the barrel.

The professors are outright excluded from the halls of power. They know things.

AI hiring bias? Men with Anglo-Saxon names score lower in tech interviews

In mock interviews for software engineering jobs, recent AI models that evaluated responses rated men less favorably – particularly those with Anglo-Saxon names, according to recent research.

The goal of the study, conducted by Celeste De Nadai as an undergraduate thesis project at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Stockholm, Sweden, was to investigate whether current-generation LLMs demonstrate bias when presented with gender data and with names that allow cultural inferences to be made…

If I was POTUS.. FWIW & very hypothetically (LOL ineligible AF, Aussie typing, also secularist, atypical neurologically, not cis or heteronormative human typing) I’d make you .. vice-POTUS & give ya whatever position ya wanted PZ.

    Which would be?

I do sometimes wish Isaac Asimov’s Council of Science from the very old Lucky Starr novels was real becoz.. well, pretty sure this last election sure proved Democracy just doesn’t work at least not in the willfully ignorant, deliberately horribly misinformed “United” States of (a big chunk of northern) “America”

This seems entirely legitimate. I wouldn’t want Aelfrics and Eadwines and Ecfriths running my high tech businesses either – since nobody has had Anglo-Saxon names for almost a millennium.

Remember, Trump loves the poorly educated, so does the rest of the republican party. They are out to destroy the DoE, or at least, create a curriculum that keeps people dumb and uninformed with injection of religion. Maybe the religion part was redundant.
