Good god, I pray that my children like me a little bit

These hateful conservative weirdos are all concerned about their legacy (at least, they pretend they are), but they never stop to think that maybe their many children will reject their narrow-minded, painfully short-sighted ways. After all, their kids have seen what the parental dogma does to families first hand.

Case in point: Elon Musk’s disowned daughter, Vivian Wilson, is spilling all the tea about her horrible, absent father.

I understand your new angle is this “western values/ christian family man” thing but it’s such a weird choice. You are not a family man, you are a serial adulterer who won’t stop fucking lying about your own children. You are not a christian, as far as I’m aware you’ve never stepped foot in a church. You are not some “bastion for equality/progress”. You called arabic the “language of the enemy” when | was 6, have been sued for discrimation multiple times, and are from Apartheid South Africa.
You are not “saving the planet”, you do not give a fuck about climate change and you’re lying about multi-planetary civilization as both an excuse, and because you want to seem like the CEO from Ready Player One. I would mention the birth rate stuff, but I am not touching that weird 14-words breeder shit with a ten foot pole. You single-handedly disillusioned me with how gullible we are as a species because somehow people keep believing you for reasons that continue to evade me.

Every parent ought to live to earn the honor and respect of their children. If they can’t do that, they don’t deserve to have kids. It’s that simple.

No one should have that kind of power.

I should clarify I wasn’t comparing PZ to the bigoted Musk or suggesting any sort of animosity in the Myers clan.

and reflecting that it’s probably rare that kids always “honor and respect” their parents 100% because they’re their own people of their own generation with their own outlook and values.

My own father was horrendous in many ways but I still think he “deserved to have kids” because otherwise I wouldn’t exist. X-D

Anyway, plenty of elder abuse goes on.

Parents don’t get any respect, nevermind some respect.

Is there anyone who has ever dealt with Elon Musk who ended up liking him?
And didn’t end up regretting it?

No. It’s possible there are a few people out there who could claim that but there aren’t many.

I had to look it up. The fourteen words.

Wikipedia: The primary slogan in the Fourteen Words is,

We must secure the existence of our people and a future for white children,[1][5][6][7]

    Followed by the secondary slogan,
because the beauty of the White Aryan woman must not perish from the Earth.

    It’s dumb for obvious reasons.

It was a slogan that a neo-Nazi came up with, David Lane.
It does have a happy ending though.

He died while still incarcerated at the Federal Correctional Complex in Terre Haute, Indiana.[8]

Musks’racism is getting him into trouble over in England now too :

A UK government minister criticised American tech billionaire Elon Musk on Tuesday for “unacceptable” comments on social media about the far-right riots gripping England and Northern Ireland. .. (Snip).. “Use of language such as a ‘civil war’ is in no way acceptable,” Justice Minister Heidi Alexander said. She branded Mr Musk’s comments as “deeply irresponsible”. “We are seeing police officers being seriously injured, buildings set alight, and so I really do think that everyone who has a platform should be exercising their power responsibly,” she told Times Radio. UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s spokesperson said on Monday their was “no justification” for the comment.

Mr Musk sparked further ire on Monday with a provocative reply to a tweet by Mr Starmer. In a post on X on Monday, Mr Starmer vowed to apply “criminal law online as well as offline”, adding that “we will not tolerate attacks on mosques or on Muslim communities”. Mr Musk replied, “Shouldn’t you be concerned about attacks on all communities?”

unclefroggy @ #11 — It’s arguable that very few are qualified when they become parents. It’s a journey of discovery. Some fail in miserable ways, some succeed in marvelous ways, but most of us just muddle through the best we can. I include myself in that last group. I had little idea of what I was getting into so definitely unqualified, much less that my wonderful little boy would end up with one diagnosis after another because he didn’t fit into school so well.

True. One of the most well-remembered kings of Denmark is Christian the 4th (1577-1648). Is it because he conquered lots of places? No, he failed completely and nearly bankrupted the country trying. It was even so commonly known that his royal proverb was mistranslated into “the realm needs money”.

So, why is he still remembered and, indeed, remembered fondly? Because he also commissioned some of the most iconic buildings of Copenhagen. To this very day, if you walk through the old city of Copenhagen, you can see some amazing bits of architecture, still bearing an impressive, often gold-embossed, “C4”. The buildings are standing long after the failures are forgotten.

Elon, like a disturbingly large number of our tech overlords, is a nazi. They are all obsessed with white birth rates and breeding. Strangely they are categorically against the thing which might get young white people, and Americans in general, to start families: pay them more, give them more workers rights, and build an actual social safety net.

  13. lanir says

It’s entirely possible to respect your parents even while having a relationship that includes very divisive personal issues you both care about deeply. You can even make really big mistakes as a parent, things that affect your child for the rest of their life and that you can’t undo. And you can still find ways after all that to respect and care about each other.

What Musk and the other conservative whackaloons keep forgetting is that if they don’t show respect for their children then they’re just asking their kids to make it easier to take advantage of them. I think generally speaking when a parent doesn’t respect their child then the child can’t afford to show respect for their parent. I think this is a general rule for any relationship with a power imbalance. Relationships are built on respect and if you don’t have any, you don’t have a relationship. Supplying gametes does not change that.

FWIW, I am so fortunate that I was born to my parents. I couldn’t wish for any better or more supportive ones. Also glad I have no kids – dogs and cats aside and those are obvs not mine genetically! I don’t think I’d make a good parent and fear my genes would not be good ones to continue given how much worse I might well have turned out without my family esp parents.
