Today is the 215th anniversary of Darwin’s birth, so I’m wearing an appropriate t-shirt for the occasion.
This was a design created by Jey McCreight to memorialize our visit to Answers in Genesis’s Creation “museum”. Fifteen years ago. Way to make me feel old, Jey.

You think you feel old..
Pauses. Dangnanbbit. I’m younger.. Ouch!

Was Abe Lincoln born the same year, the same month as Darwin? Or is that a myth?
I am older than two co-workers were when they died of cancer, so… I think I feel older than PZ, even if he was born earlier.
birgerjohansson says
I have watched the drama documentary Young Einstein (with Yahoo Serious in the main role), where Einstein travelled from his native Australia to Europe, developed the relativity theory ,fought baddies and attended the Nobel festivities together with Charles Darwin.

Darwin gets us!
birgerjohansson says
Holy fcking sht, Abe and Charles were born the very same day!
Next time some wanker says evolution is evil, I will reply numerology proves Darwin was right. As creationists rarely understand history is a retrospective construct they will be shaken by this apparent miracle.

So does Dr. Lecter. If you meet him, your knowledge will be thoroughly digested.
Yeah, I stole the phrase from Dr. Who, *The Swarm, 1976.

The Chimpanzee
Children behold the chimpanzee:
He sits on the ancestral tree
From which we sprang in ages gone.
I’m glad we sprang: had we held on,
We might for aught that I can say,
Be horrid Chimpanzees today.
Oliver Herford
Merry Darwin day!
birgerjohansson says
And merry Abe day. May the wankers who want to rewrite American history get their plantations burned down.

Was driving in Rochester, NY today and came across a Darwin St. I didn’t know about! Coincidence?
chrislawson says
Also the 165th anniversary of evolutionary theory being about to die any day now…

@3. birgerjohansson
Yup! Great fun movie with just the odd bit of dramatic licence taken here.
@5. Ibid : “Holy fcking sht, Abe and Charles were born the very same day!”
Checks wiki :
Plus for Abe Lincoln :
Huh. Neat co-incidence.
@7. eastexsteve : “Horrid chimpanzees?” Huh. That’s a bit rude to our near. identical evolutionary relatives and actually reckon its humans are the the truly horrid ones..
Also reminds me me of the old childhood saying that we all sprang from monkeys but some of us didn’t spring far enough.

General William Tecumsah Sherman was born February 8.
We missed General Sherman day!

Wore my Darwin Day t shirt . I made with a Sharpie and a Rit dyed men’s undershirt . One of these days I’ll make another . This one is about 15 years old and it’s a faded and grey looking. But hey, got to represent!
Akira MacKenzie says
Meh. Darwin Day used to mean something. Now it’s so commercial.
rietpluim says
Fifteen years already? But we’ve only grown two or three years since then!
eastexsteve says
Is the shirt back-dated? Looks like your preparing to battle Trump.
StevoR@11-He must have liked that word; I haven’t read much of his poetry, but he use’s it in another.
For down under:
My child, the Duck-Billed Platypus
A sad example sets for us:
From him we learn how indecision
of character provokes derision.
This vacillating thing you see
Could not decide which he would be
Fish, Flesh, or Fowl, and chose all three
The scientists were sorely vexed
To classify him; so perplexed
Their brains, that they, with rage at bay,
Called him a horrid name one day,
A name that baffles, frights and shocks us
Ornithorhynchus Paradoxus

Maybe he was a Johann Blumenbach fan.
