Yesterday, Iliana took Grandma and Grandpa to the zoo in Chippewa Falls.
We did see some animals, but she was mostly excited about the green fire hydrants.
She insisted that I get a photo of her with a fire hydrant.
My family is so weird. I have no idea where they get it from.

I can totally picture her cuddling a fluffy stuffed (green!) fire hydrant.

My little grandson, who is almost 2, is in love with vacuum cleaners! He asks to see your vacuum when talking to grandparents or uncle, has a toy vacuum, and a children’s book about vacuum cleaners.
Evidently this is a thing with little kids, I found and ordered him some more books on the same subject geared to toddlers. So, attraction to a green fire hydrant is not so weird. There may be a Little Green Fire Hydrant book out there somewhere!

Well, it’s an unusual fire hydrant, sturdy and reliable looking — and a bit like a friendly robot. Maybe a career in public works is in the offing, as an engineer providing water services for example?
I know people in wastewater management who have have a deep and abiding appreciation of manhole covers. Google images of “beautiful manhole covers around the world” or some such to see what I mean.

@4 I was also thinking it reminded me of that robot from Forbidden Planet .

I’m in agreement with those who think she imagined it as animate.
Most people lose that ability, and some retain it and write books for children.
