It’s dead over there. There are a few people maintaining the grounds and the building, but it’s sad how quiet the science building is.
The spiders are loving it, though!
We found this orbweaver by the path.
I was a pest and nudged her to flip over so we could admire her dorsal side. Yep, Six-Spotted Orbweaver, Araniella displicata. Lots of these around right now.
Bonus! On the leaf next door, a tetragnathid!

So… Did you get various Federal agencies plus local police and mutual aid forces to clear a path for you so you could walk across the street? No? Good for you.

good to hear about something wholesome and normal that is still going on. for some reason things feel rather OK today have no idea why I should feel somewhat I hate to use the word optimistic but there it is.
may it is just a lack of proper sleep.

But are there any spiders in the White House basement, been unused for a long time? Donald would know after his inspection. Perhaps PZ should phone.

Why on Earth would anyone call a Ten Spotted Orbweaver a Six-Spotted Orbweaver? Glad to see the spider saga continue, though!

Some possibilities:
(1) The spider is sending Morse code.
(2) Poopyhead is either(or both) not on, or not of, Earth.
(5) “And the Lord spake, saying, ‘First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin. Then, shalt thou count to three, no more, no less. Three shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, nor either count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out! Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thou foe, who being naughty in my sight, shall snuff it.'”
“Amen.”
“Right! One… two… five!”
“Three sir.”
“Three! “
