This is Wisconsin state representative Robin Vos, who voted to keep the churches open on Easter, whose party worked to demand an election be held today.
He showed up to vote in all of that protective gear.

Also, I note the individual directly behind the fraud seems to be similarly equipped: Mask and gloves are visible, the suit is speculation. (Both seem to be wearing eye protection as well.) The exposed (i.e., apparently unprotected) water bottle is, ah, “encouraging”…

Some video of him: same fashion choices while insisting that “You are incredibly safe to go out.” Also, as it says earlier in that thread (with more video), he was wrong about his other claim about getting a ballot via email.
Meanwhile, another video of a cop forcing two black guys to leave an Illinois Walmart for wearing protective masks.
His homemade “ELECTION INSPECTOR” badge is also some pretty ridiculous shit.

if the goal was to help suppress the vote of the people who go to the polls knowing that a majority of mail in voters are loyal republican voters then getting your picture wearing such an extreme kit might scare the shit out of anyone who might be a little hesitant thus adding to a lower turnout.

So he could be a legit “elections inspector”, which is a real position. The homemade nature of the badge doesn’t mean much of anything. The issued badge, if any, maybe wouldn’t stick or it’s pin would punch a hole or…
However, election inspectors are compensated (see link at link). So he’s not only a vote-suppressing hypocrite, he’s getting paid for it! (Probably, apparently they can opt-out of being compensated.)
Last time I heard anything about it, the official position of the Democratic Party — which is not the same as that of Democratic governors — was the same. (In their case, the justification is: push those primaries through now before people notice that Biden wants you to lose your healthcare if you lose your job in the middle of a pandemic.)
The speaker of the fucking house cannot be treated like any old poll worker in an election. Because of their insane decision to continue with in-person voting, I wouldn’t be surprised if some locations did need to scrounge up more people at the last minute, in order to make up for those who had quit. But it shouldn’t be anyone in a position like his.
What’s meaningless is that badge, which has zero identifying information and which anyone with a sharpie could make in about two minutes.
Normally, poll workers would be trained. What about this time? My bet is nothing.
And normally, voters in Wisconsin would need a photo ID. How about those who are running the whole fucking thing? Again, nothing. Write a couple words on a bit of paper/cardboard, and you’re golden.
I really hope our standards have hit rock bottom now, because it’s hard to imagine it getting any worse. If this were any other failed state, the US would have installed its own regime by now, or maybe the UN would have stepped in to help us with our elections.

Hypocrisy would be if he refused to work the election because of the risk. Instead, he suited himself up by his bootstraps and let the free market decide whether he lives or dies of COVID.

Ive learned recently that no. They do not. And I would propose these purity politics people be ignored except they do real harm with their rhetoric that helps the Right stay in power.

I find these types of ‘Progressives’ amusing. By an large, they aren’t really effected by the disaster occupying the White House, so you may dismiss what they say as privilege of the worst kind (you know, what they are always complaining about). Keep reminding them that through their inaction, they are accomplices. Nevermind that they threw away everything they claim to hold dear. Their complaints are meaningless at this point – they had a chance to mitigate all this by being pragmatic, and blew it by chasing the Unicorn.
Now they are doubling, tripling and quadrupling down.
There’s a long game here.
At stake in this election is a SCWI seat. We elect our Supreme Court, it’s weird. The current incumbent is a deep conservative, and he was trailing in the polls. Moreover, there’s a decision before the court regarding elections that he recused from, and said decision is currenlty deadlocked. If he’s actually elected, he’ll be able to un-recuse himself and cast the deciding vote.
The case is to purge 209,000 names from the voter rolls. See, they sent out letters a while ago, and if you didn’t send your letter back they said “oh you must not exist as a voter anymore so we’re purging your registration.” This affects primarily urban areas, like Milwaukee and Madison, and primarily black and student voters.
So by suppressing turnout in this election, they’re hoping Kelly gets to keep his seat so…they can suppress turnout in the next election.
Well, one advantage of elected judges is you can vote them out. We can’t vote out Kavanaugh.
