A nice day, topped with nuts

As it turns out, I’m traveling to Minneapolis today to have a pleasant time swanning about parks and such with my best beloved, so I’m probably going to drop by the ridiculous creationist talk by the Nuttings this evening. MCB 3-120 at 6:30. They always try to book rooms in the most sciencey building they can find, and MCB is short for Molecular and Cellular Biology, the antithesis of what they’ll be lying about.

“Chance vs Design” tonight — anyone want to bet they don’t understand the first and will present no evidence for the second?

Oh, and if you go, don’t expect me to draw down thunder and lightning on these frauds — I don’t debate, I’m just going to document, and later rebut the more egregious lies right here. Judging by commentary by an attendee at the previous two talks, I’ll have a lot to rebut.

Remember that time you disagreed with an xkcd comic, because you wouldn’t go searching for bad opinions to get mad at/rebut?

I know I didn’t dig too deeply but it seems to me that none of the creation ‘scientists’ speaking at this actually does science.

That would make sense, given that creation scientists practice Cargo Cult Science.

I remember when some creationist tried this at Adelaide Uni… the best they could book was a room in the Union House, down some stairs from the campus pub.

You know I actually managed to force myself to go to all three of the talks held by the Nuttings, and it may have been one of the most infuriating exercises in futility that I have ever gone through. That being said, the hours of inane babbling about specified design and irreducible complexity were all made worth it when Dr. Meyers called them out on their bullshit definitions of design to their faces. I’m not usually one for conflict, but when I heard that I couldn’t help but break out into a smile.

down some stairs from the campus pub

The one time vomit has been observed flowing up stairs and into a pub.
