Nothing new about that attitude. The Catholic Church never executed any heretics, as apologists always point out. They merely checked that they were heretics, even giving them every opportunity to recant. My only problem with this idea would be a fear for your safety; I would be extremely unsurprised if assassination attempts were much higher if non cishet (publicly at least) people were in charge of the government, especially if you were doing a better job of it than we were.
That said, I’m ready to bow out. I know I could do a better job than some bigots in power now, but I also know I’d be horribly inadequate compared to people who actually know what they’re doing.
