Oh, I’m so sorry you can’t go with Mary! No need to stop, this is a joy, so indulge yourself, and us too. We need all the joy we can get.

Hopefully your DIL has recovered enough to be totally unplugged and sent home. May the grandmother’s swoop in and start the spoiling, while giving the new mother a chance to grow into what will be her, and her husband’s future roles, in the care and feeding of their VIP.

Congratulations and blessings to you and your family, Professor! Since my Korean is a tad rusty (actually, non-existent) I had to use Google Translate to understand the caption, which I found highly fitting. (My daughter-in-law is Chinese, so I have to do this sort of thing often.)
Is the NY state a permanent move? That’s a whole lot closer than South Korea.

Gramps must have copied this from an email, since I could copypaste the caption into Google Translate:
I am a brave and strong man like you dreaming of a ride on a white horse and you are a big dreamer of the world Become a big man of the world The rough waves of the sea Have the wisdom and courage to fall in front of you.
PZ, many congrats with the new Myers!

What a beautiful child.
The absence would be great time to get your holiday shopping done and your wife’s presents brought into the house without her knowing about it.
Congratulations, PZ ! I’ve been telling you that becoming a grandparent would change everything.
We have six grandchildren, and they are all the joys of our lives.
Keep posting about him. I want to see how much of an old softy you become now that he’s in your life!
Enjoy!

Great tidings, PZ!
From a veteran grandfather to the noob, you’re going to love the job. You get all the cool perks like bouncing grandson on knee, making silly baby talk, going pppbbbbttttt on the little fat belly and telling fabulous tales of daring, danger, close calls and all that.
Even better, you are spared most all of the responsibilities of parenthood and can readily avoid midnight feedings and diaper changes without guilt. You already served your time doing that so now you can savor just being there and being as engagingly eccentric as you want. You’re gonna love it, believe me.
