If you read the link with the OTHER pics it makes more sense.
Basically our little mermaid is seeing the underside of a boat and thinking about how great it would be to meet a majestic human…then sees the guy you see in the link, gets dejected towards humans, and returns to the sea.

I get the hat, that’s a signifier by now, but what’s up with those white lines on his face? He looks like one of those stereotypical lifeguards with sunscreen on their noses. Is that what that’s supposed to be, sunscreen?

So this is basically “unshaven and fat is ugly” joke?
Sorry, but no sorry for not finding it amusing even a tiny bit and I do not get why PZ felt the need to post it. This is second time in just a few weeks when he posted body-shaming joke by the looks of it.

I feel that it aims too much at the inner-circle, and that the panel is NOT about fat-shaming. Much like Sealioning is NOT about minorities defending themselves when attacked.

I never said it was a GOOD joke, just explaining the “point” of the pic. Personally he might have been a nice guy, she never bothered to find out.
But then if you reverse the genders (picture the GUY rejecting humanity instantly after seeing a girl that doesn’t appeal to him without even speaking a single sentence) outrage would result, so maybe the point was to show that pre-judging people on sight is stupid? After all, his reply was polite and even chivalrous?
Ah well, I never wrote the thing, I’m just going by what I see.

Here’s an experiment that concludes something like 25-30% of Americans don’t believe in God, but most of them won’t answer a poll that way straight up. The methodology isn’t rock solid, but it’s an interesting idea. If it’s true, then we need to get people to come out of the closet.
