They don’t even have to write their own jokes any more!
Those word balloons contain obvious bullshit from a bullshit artist — they sound exactly how a kid who hasn’t done their homework sounds when called on in class. It’s ridiculous. It’s meaningless noise. It’s not even good or entertaining bullshit.
But there’s that little note in the third panel: “verbatim from press conf., 4/12/17”. I know, it’s Trump, so of course it’s possible that such crap dribbled out of his mouth, but I had to check. Here’s a partial transcript of his answer, and if that’s not good enough, there’s video of the press conference — skip ahead to about 25:50 to hear the reporter’s question and his ludicrously stupid reply.
I think Garry Trudeau would agree that his ease and comfort in generating text for his cartoons is not adequate compensation for having to live with that boob in charge of the government.

He sounds like a Miss USA (or Miss Universe) contestant.

No.
He sounds like Donald Trump.

Perhaps it’s best if cartoonists don’t write their own words. Have you seen today’s Dilbert?
slithey tove (twas brillig (stevem)) says
That is the point Trudeau is making. Putting 45’s own words onto a cartoon character to show how ridiculous he is, not a real person, only a cartoon character in the WH. *bah*
What people see in 45s favor goes way over my head, outta sight☹️

Gotta love the expressions on the face of the little red-haired girl (no wonder Charlie Brown was so enamored!).

So many problems, and Donald Trump is one of the big ones. As is his in-group, political party, and supporters.

The Trumpsters are great fodder for cartoons and comics. One cartoon artist I follow is doing a series on “Li’l Trumpy”, along with “Li’l Steve Bunion”, “Li’l Jared”, et al. And late-night comedians are having such a field day with TweeterDumb that the Guardian and Washington Post have had articles about it.
sff9 says
@ahcuah#1, Miss USA contestants are FAR more articulate and convincing than this! And anyway, as problematic as beauty pageants are, contestants do not deserve to be put on the same level as this all-around awful person!

And we look at this ‘entertainment’ every night on the telly as if there were some level of normalcy going on.
Kind of how we got used to seeing the ‘body count’ from the Vietnam War every week, and it became normal. Until the carnage could no longer be ignored.
I wonder if Trump’s wall will have the same emotional effect as the Vietnam wall when the dust finally settles?
