Currently, my most anticipated movie of the year is Three billboards outside Ebbing, Missouri.
I’m not sure why. Something about Frances McDormand as a righteously outraged woman appeals. The cast is amazing. And it’s from the guy who made In Bruges.
Erlend Meyer says
HELL YEAH! It’s not often a trailer makes me burst with excitement for a movie, but this one could be one bad-ass mother.
Caine says
That’s all I need to know! Really looking forward to this one.

The c- and r-words made me cringe, but other than that? I’ve never even heard of this movie before, but damn, I can’t wait to see it now. Frances McDormand is always fantastic, and I still want to visit Bruges thanks to that damned movie.

Wow, I like it!

In Bruges? Feckin’ The Pillowman! Not to mention The Lieutenant of Inishmore, and several other amazing plays. Martin McDonagh is a man who is not afraid of bloodying up a stage in service of dark comedy. (When Signature Theatre in Virginia did Lieutenant a few years ago, they had to fumigate for fruit flies afterward. Stage blood is based on corn syrup, you see.)
Also, back in the land of moving pictures, his brother John Michael McDonagh made The Guard (with Brendan Gleeson and Don Cheadle), which is every bit as good as you might expect if you believe talent runs in families.

The bad part: this isn’t fiction at all. You can see it happening in the US every day.
fentex says
I wonder if it’s possible to make a less than excellent movie with that cast?
Matt Cramp says
Oh hell, probably, there’s a certain alchemy to movie making that means it can always go bad. Still, sounds great!
