He simply doesn’t know when to shut up. He was interviewed about his previous racist comments, and guess what he babbled about? The coming Race War.
Iowa Rep. Steve King said Monday that blacks and Hispanics
will be fighting each otherbefore overtaking whites in the US population.King, a Republican, was on the radio responding to a question about Univision anchor Jorge Ramos’ comment to Tucker Carlson on Fox News that whites would become a majority-minority demographic in America by 2044, a point Ramos used to make the argument that it is a multiracial country.
Jorge Ramos’ stock in trade is identifying and trying to drive wedges between race,King told Iowa radio host Jan Mickelson on 1040 WHO.Race and ethnicity, I should say to be more correct. When you start accentuating the differences, then you start ending up with people that are at each other’s throats. And he’s adding up Hispanics and blacks into what he predicts will be in greater number than whites in America. I will predict that Hispanics and the blacks will be fighting each other before that happens.
Because white people have always been innocent bystanders. No, sir, white Americans never tried to commit genocide, or enslave and torture black people, or or carry out wars of conquest in Latin America — that was just all those people fighting with each other.
You won’t believe his source for this prediction.
King concluded the interview by recommending that listeners read the novel, “The Camp of the Saints,” by French author Jean Raspail, a book about Europe being overcome by immigrants which has also frequently been referenced by top Trump advisers Steve Bannon. The book has been criticized as presenting a racist view of immigration.
Yep. A work of fiction, written by a racist, about a South Asian armada full of impoverished people preparing to invade Europe.
Only white Europeans like Calgues are portrayed as truly human in The Camp of the Saints. The Indian armada brings
thousands of wretched creatureswhose very bodies arouse disgust:Scraggy branches, brown and black … All bare, those fleshless Gandhi-arms.Poor brown children are spoiled fruitstarting to rot, all wormy inside, or turned so you can’t see the mold. The ship’s inhabitants are also sexual deviants who turn the voyage into a grotesque orgy.
Everywhere, rivers of sperm,Raspail writes.Streaming over bodies, oozing between breasts, and buttocks, and thighs, and lips, and fingers.
This is what Steve King reads in his spare time? It’s what he recommends to journalists?
Giliell, professional cynic -Ilk- says
Wait, are those poor brown people all half starved or having some sex that looks like your ordinary porn? You know, somehow those things don’t add up well…

The writing sounds like a horrifying and strange mix of Ayn Rand, The Turner Diaries, and Neutral Milk Hotel.
Okay, so I haven’t actually read The Turner Diaries and have absolutely no desire to, but the point stands.
chigau (違う) says
Wishful thinking. He is terrified.
cervantes says
Note that the rest of the Republicans in congress have either been silent about this, or evasive. Paul Ryan said he didn’t know the context but he thought King didn’t really mean it the way it sounded. If the Republicans lose the racist vote, the party is done for.

I think the fans of that shit get aroused by it. They get all excited whenever their hate-spots are stimulated.

All the Nazis are loving on “King Steve“. Jumping with bloody joy. Duke is already calling him Trump’s successor, and urging people (Nazis) to move to Iowa in droves.
D’ya suppose any of these gits realize that they are adherents of Charles Manson? I guess that wouldn’t bother them much.

I feel bad for (some of*) the people already there, but this might not be the worst idea… At least they’d be contained.
(*Not the ones that voted for King, obviously.)

For every Steve King, there are hundreds of thousands of people wanting him to lead them.

I recognize the book about as well as the protocols of Zion, from French racism. It rears its ugly head once in a while in Quebec or French politics.

Don’t forget that the republicans got behind a “christian” for president whose own words disqualify him from everything they purport to believe. The only thing that matters to these shitholes is the “R” on the ballot.

I have.
It’s… It’s pretty fucking heinous. There is little to no redeeming qualities about the white supremacist mastubatorial fantasy of the KKK taking over the world, lynching the race traitors, nuking the east coast, Moscow (because they’re jews), the middle east, and China into glass.

Jan Mickelson is not a journalist, so no. My understanding is he is a far-right loon, much like King. I thought PZ knew this. (Searching for “Jan Mickelson,” I only find this post. I may be thinking of Ed Brayton’s blog. Mickelson has probably made regular “appearances” there.)

Oh c’mon, I complained abut this here in October, and I complained about it on Salon and in The Daily Kos and a half dozen other spaces. Democrats work the online outrage machine, but you NEVER mentioned Kim Weaver once!!! She was his opponent. She’ll probably be his opponent in 2018.
The online Democrat S-O-P is to say, oooooh, look what Baddy McBad said today, Baitclick! So and so said something about bathrooms or Mexicans, baitclick. Since Tip O’Neill you haven’t been able to turn a social movement into a political movement. So there’s gay marriage in a bunch of states now, and legal pot. Does every goddamn gay married person and every goddamn potsmoker show up at the polls to vote Democrat? Every woman using birth control, every woman who’s ever had an abortion, every worker who enjoys weekends off and health insurance? Every parent with a kid in public schools, every 18-year-old new voter who wasn’t worked to death in the mines?
It’s patently ridiculous that Pharyngula and Salon and Kos and all the rest of the liberal blogs make their money off whay Louis Gohmert and Michelle Bachmann and Steve King said yesterday, but make no effort to actually defeat them at the polls. If you don’t like Steve King, then voter registration in Iowa is how to respond. Getting students at Iowa State to the polls. Getting the Latinos working the CAFOs to register and vote. Once their ALEC governor and legislature pass restrictive Voter ID laws, getting those voter IDs for everyone who needs them. And telling people about the alternative (Kim Weaver, probably).
Otherwise, wringing your hands over what Steve King said yesterday is just clickbait masturbation. I begged you a half dozen times last Fall to mention Kim Weaver and you never did. Not once. Now you’re complaining about Steve King. Shame on you, PZ!!! This isn’t entertainment, it’s real life!

I’ll just leave this here. (I’m not a Democrat, ftr.)

I am so sick of this shit. Seriously – and speaking as an ageing white guy – I do not understand why all the native americans, black people, hispanics, and pissed off women (which ought to be about: most of them) do not rise up and kill us. I wouldn’t blame them at all. I’ll even take a bullet quietly and with dignity, if it means that all the white supremacist douchebags get a bullet too.
C’mon, let’s do this thing. Get it over with. White male america delenda est.

@anbheal, #18:
Daily Kos is a site for political advocacy, and they have plenty of posts from last October and before urging people to help Kim Weaver defeat Steve King. Where do you get off saying that Daily Kos makes no effort to actually defeat him at the polls?
Here’s a small sampling I turned up in two seconds flat:
https://www.google.com/search?q=site%3Adailykos.com+kim+weaver
Pharyngula is PZ’s personal blog, and not a site dedicated to political advocacy. PZ talks about what he chooses to talk about. Where do you get off dictating to him the content he should be putting on his blog?
I assume that you have your own web site that demonstrates the proper way to do these things, and your approach has been demonstrated to be so profoundly effective that it is from this high perch you feel comfortable deriding efforts that are not as effective as hoped as if they are not even trying? Don’t keep us in suspense…

Steve King or Steven King? One has depraved, fever dreams of sex and violence, the other is a writer from Maine.

You know, about ten years ago Trent Lott lost his Senate leadership position, and left the Senate shortly thereafter, for having made a single positive comment about Strom Thurmond. King’s comments are far, far worse and the GOP has been completely silent. It’s scary how much worse the Republican Party has become in ten years.

Naw. Blacks and Latinos aren’t mutually exclusive terms. There are Blacks who are Latino and Latinos who are Black. But a racist like King would never know that because we’re all just non-White trash to him and his ilk.
