Friday Cephalopod: There’s something hypnotic about it
You can stop emailing me now. Everyone on the planet has seen Opisthoteuthis adorabilis, fallen in love, and demanded that I feature it in a Friday Cephalopod. OK!
We should probably go ahead and free up about half the internet to make room for the memes and videos and vines and cosplays of the kids, when they decide to hatch into fame.

Yep. I thought about email and figured I’d be hours and hours behind all the other enthusiasts.
And adorabilis is definitely the right name.

I was listening to Science Friday on the way home from work today, and heard them discuss this critter, as well as it being cephalopod week, and immediately thought/said aloud in my car, “I hope somehow PZ mentions this for Friday Cephalopod!” Glad to see I was right. Only 6 months to winter, better figure out how to make a beanie hat resembling one.

Haha. Poor PZ. Victim of the Horde lust for cuteness.

A suborder of octopods with fins like a fish on the sides of their heads that live at the bottom of the sea.
You can’t make this stuff up.

I showed this clip to my grandson, and he noticed a resemblance.
Since this has been discovered I assume it won’t be too long before we find a Pacman, right?
I really want to create live action versions of retro video games. I’ve stumbled at many roadblocks (spray painting a hedgehog blue does not increase it’s speed or combat ability) but at last it seems my luck has changed.
Now I just need the 4 babies to be called Binky, Pinky, Inky and Clyde and for them to be put in the Pacman maze and we’re almost there.
