“Coming Out Atheist” is coming out now

Greta Christina’s new book, “Coming Out Atheist”, is now available. Get yourself a copy!

I’m hoping there will be some at the American Atheists convention this weekend in Salt Lake City. I’ll be speaking there, Greta will be speaking there (as will Sikivu, Matt, and Maryam) so I should be able to track one down, right? And get it signed?

And everyone else is going too, I presume? I’ll see you all in Salt Lake City, I arrive tomorrow afternoon!

    Sadly, this weekend is also NorwesCon. I’ll be hanging out with a bunch of drunken nerds instead of hanging out with a bunch of drunken, godless nerds.

    My talk is on the science behind purposelessness. And just this morning I actually read the schedule, to discover I’ve only got a half hour time slot (like everyone — they’re really packing them in), so I’m cutting, cutting, cutting. It looks like I’ll have time for the background and then one general explanation of one experiment.

    Hint please. I went to skepticon.org/videos/ , thumbnails of all the presentations but clicking on one of them gives another page with just a banner of the title, no hint of how to go from there to the video, thanks.

    The Beehive State will be swarming with atheists this week as their national convention gets underway in Salt Lake City.

    As many as 700 nonbelievers will be on hand for the gathering, which runs Thursday through Sunday.

    Why did you stage a march around Temple Square during LDS conference?

    We tried to get billboards, but were unable to find a single Salt Lake City-based company that would take our billboards. Then we tried to put them in a mall, any mall. They were not offensive, but happy, friendly, saying, “Hey, we’re atheists. Come party with us.” But no one would take them. It’s not right and it’s not American. People were angry. We decided to take that anger and show the Mormon church that atheists will not be squelched. We wanted our message to be public and vocal, to be an example to other atheists in the Mormon ranks that they have a place to land when they leave the church. […]
