I’ve been following Eric regularly for a couple of years.
He’s quite amazing. It is a coup for FtB to land him here.
Although I’m not sure he’ll like all the pie fights. His current site attracts a kinder, gentler brand of troll.
Fantastic! Eric is one of the most thoughtful writers out there. Plus, he has unique insight into the machinations of religion as a former Anglican priest.

Admittedly, I haven’t been reading WEIT as much as I used to over the last few months. Please tell me he didn’t go all Russel Blackford on us while my head was turned. That would really ruin my day.
I do know that he has a few known slymepitters in his comment section, but I figured that his policy was to tolerate them as long as they don’t use his blog as a soapbox.
Freethought Blogs has been my education for some time but when I discovered Eric MacDonald, well, he’s the first thing I click on each morning.
It’s a limited choice. You may have some leeway in when, where and how, but there simply is no choice in whether. It’s like those idiots who tell you that ‘freedom of religion’ means you can join any Christian denomination you want, but you can’t be atheist!
I don’t think Coyne has gone all Blackford…he’s more Switzerland.
Such an important topic – I hadn’t heard of him but can’t wait to read his blog.
Great addition to FtB. He’s thoughtful and passionate and I look forward to reading him here.
