I’ve been complaining today about the heating in our office not being up to scratch. I now feel like such a wuss.

It’s like some flamboyant cross-dressing diva (not the diver!). It should be on one of those epic old musicals (from the days when they could afford to stage big numbers with massive chorus lines) – or the next Disney Fantasia. Or perhaps it just belongs in the aquatic version of “Hairspray”.

Hey guys – get hold of the episode of “Life” – the new BBC series narrated by David Attenborough – about well, mostly, cepahalods. Duelling cuttlefish anyone? The giant red octopus giving birth and caring for her offspring? Gorgeous stuff.
Squidmas viewing, definitely.
And am I the first to note that Mary’s Metazoan is rather on the slimy side of cute and cuddly? Kittens, meercats, and star-nosed moles in this section only, please.

What gets me about the stereotypical can-can tune, is that it’s the ballet from Offenbach’s Orphée aux enfers.

Is this picture two minutes before or after Rule 34 was in effect?

Isn’t that what Barbra Streisand wore in Hello Dolly?

How beautifully alien. If I knew how to sew it would be a fantastic inspiration piece for a kick-ass avant-garde ballgown.

That’s just gorgeous.
‘Cold’ huh? What are we talking about when we say ‘cold’? -0°C? -1°C? I guess that’s pretty cold, but IT WAS 46.1°C IN EDMONTON YESTERDAY! -58.4°C WITH WINDCHILL! ONLY SIBERIA RECORDED COLDER TEMPERATURES!
Ahem, sorry about that. I’m sitting here with my trickle charger plugged in hoping in an hour I can start the damn car so I can drive it to the service station to get the battery fluffed or something like that–whatever they need to make it go. I just want to cry.
Alright, I’m all done with the self-pity. Time to go congratulate Lynna on her OM.

My first reaction after how beautiful a creature it was, was how beautiful a photograph it was. The detail is astounding, which led to the thought of how good a camera it is. Which I then realized that if I was going to be doing extreme diving in horribly cold water in order to take photos, I want to use the best damn camera I can. I don’t want to have wasted my time, or need to do re-takes. Brrrr!

Anyone caught the octopus with coconut shells item on the BBC site yet?
