It’s that time of the month again, when we try to acknowledge the work of some commenter (or inanimate carbon rod) who has most delighted us by bestowing admission in the grand Order of the Molly. Just leave a comment here naming your favorite commenter or random object intended to mock the proceedings, and I’ll tally them up at the end of the week.
Also, I maintain this mega-blogroll, and I’m appallingly generous in putting blogs on it — of course, I’m also appallingly ruthless in expunging blogs that haven’t had an update in 30 days. All you have to do is:
- Check the current blogroll in case you’re already on it.
- Make sure you’ve got an RSS feed for your blog. I can’t put anyone on the blogroll without a syndication feed.
- Leave a comment with a link to your blog, perhaps with a little explanation about why you deserve to be read by anyone. If your RSS link is hard to find, tell me what that is, too. It’s also helpful if you tell me what category of my blogroll looks like a good home for you.
- This time around, since this is a Molly thread, you also have to vote for some great commenter. If you haven’t read the comments enough to know anyone, what the heck are you doing asking me to read your blog?
See? It’s easy! Do all that and I’ll put you on the blogroll. Let’s be realistic, though — it’s not the greatest honor in the world, and it’s also diluted by the fact that there are so darn many of you on the list right now. But hey, it’ll get you a link for at least a little while.
Oh, and note that leaving a comment in this thread will also put you in Seed’s 500,000th comment contest! You can’t lose!
MAJeff says
Do we get to see the rod?
Caucasian Jesus says
I’d like to put forth a little parody: Church of Jesus Fucking Christ: A blog of obvious satire, written by Caucasian Jesus about news, morality, and whatever else. Why does it deserve to be put there? Because it is funny.. sometimes. And gets a lot of hits. (The RSS is at the bottom. And for some reason I kept getting an error when trying to link here.. I linked up my name, though.)
Can the Order of the Molly be bestowed upon someone twice? If it can, I’m still a big fan of Brownian.
Reginald Selkirk says
It’s about time! My vote is for a Talon graphite custom built fly rod. Specifically, the Cairnton model.
eewolf says
A vote for inkadu for this excellent post.
PZ Myers says
Does the Talon Graphite comment here, though?
Reginald Selkirk says
I know some people prefer the Talon Midgar model, a “3 piece two handed blanks designed for the angler who likes to use a Scandinavian style cast“, but they can cast their own votes.
Reginald Selkirk says
I play by the rules. I will highlight a couple words in your original post for your edification:
Rey Fox says
I’ll vote for…actually, I might not vote anymore. Because it seems like whenever someone wins a Molly, their commenting output drops sharply. They get complacent, rest on their past achievements. Or they get all full of themselves and start their own blog somewhere else, and leave their true fans behind. Nah, I think if they want respect, they must earn it…again and again and again. Corporate bloggers still suck!
The Disgruntled Chemist says
of course, I’m also appallingly ruthless in expunging blogs that haven’t had an update in 30 days.
Awww, but I’m so lazy!
Brownian says
Flattery will get you everywhere, Caucasian Jesus. There are no double Mollys, but I’ll take cash donations.
I’d like to cast my vote this month for Dustin and his own special brand of adult contemporary folk/rock.
Reginald Selkirk says
Here’s a site you might want to put on your blog roll:
J-Walk
“Stuff that may or may not interest you.”
He’s got some links for “RSS 1.0” and “RSS 2.0.”
I’m not the blogger, I’m just acting as an uninvited third party.
BlockStacker says
I nominate the Hypnotoad! ALL GLORY TO THE HYPNOTOAD!
Rey Fox says
“Can the Order of the Molly be bestowed upon someone twice?”
The Order of Molly is a group of individuals. I would guess that it could only be bestowed on someone even once if the proper appearance fees were paid, and all the items on the tour rider were provided. Brownian, for example, requires green M&Ms.
Talon Graphite says
Yes, but what about PYGMIES & DWARFS
Sastra says
I’ll nominate Greg Peterson again, for all-around excellence, but with a special note regarding his comment #31 in the Sept 12 thread on Haidt, where he refers to atheists as “the designated drivers.”
Fernando Magyar says
“In Rod we trust”

Fishing rod’s make me think of Ichthyic.
Are we allowed to do catch and release nominations?
Ben D says
Okay, I’m an atheist grad student in London blogging about science and religion, with a little bit of everything else thrown in too – from humour to pretty pictures.
The blog: Principles of Parsimony
The feed: Here.
The category: People of Reason?
Oh, and I’ll jump on the Greg Peterson bandwagon.
Despard says
Ach. I have just finished writing my PhD thesis, so my blog has been very much on hold for the last month or so. But if you can find it in your tentacled heart to add a poor struggling young motor neuroscientist to your list, then you can find me here:
http://www.motorchauvinist.com
More updates soon, I promise.
dorid says
I’ll comment here for the contest. I don’t deign to believe that my humble blog is good enough for your blogroll, and for once I haven’t seen anything that really stands out enough for me to vote a Molly for it.
UNLESS you also give them to those who WRITE (not just comment) in which case I think you should give one to your student, Bright Lights, for the sheer gumption it took to come on here (knowing he/she was walking into a den of rabid atheists) and not only admitting to being a Christian, but signing off with “God Bless”.
jeffox backtrollin' says
Heh heh heh. A “fly rod”. Heh heh, ya ya I got one of those. :) My “Johnson” is also 9 1/4 hp. :) ‘Course, nothing beats 14 feet of Alumacraft, eh? (I just couldn’t resist any of those)
Ok, ok, so I’m not so funny sometimes. At least I know what a 5 pimple-headed Dunka river chub is. My 2c.
Bob O'H says
I’ll nominate Neal, for some exceedingly entertaining trolling.
Oh, and please, please, pretty please add me to your blog roll. I guess I’ll be more sponge than jam, but I have just put up an exceedingly entertaining post an ID paper.
Actually, it’s a paper that could do with being looked/laughed over by someone who actually knows about evo-devo. I know about little more than hedgehogs.
Bob
steve_h says
I would like to repeat my earlier nomination for Peter Irons, not so much for comments here, but for outstanding services in the defence bloggers everywhere (especially PZ) against crackpot bully boys and their frivolous lawsuits.
Dustin says
David Marjanović single handedly thwarted an invasion staged by the Moon Commies (they live on the moon, are green, and are actually more like Stalinists than commies), and he laughs at my jokes.
He should get a Molly.
PZ Myers says
Remember, if you want to join the open enrollment, the price is a vote for someone to get a Molly.
And don’t be shy about plugging your blogs. It’s OK. If it’s crap, I’ll throw it on the blogroll, read it a few times, and then throw it off.
Kseniya Nikolaevna Kirilenko, OM, FSB says
As a long-time fan of David Marjanović I will jump on Dustin’s bandwagon, and vote to add to the number of diacriticals populating the O.M.
jeffox backtrollin' says
Ok, I’ll bite on both. :) I vote for everybody who took Jim to task (and are still doing so) on the “Wells Lied. . .Again” posting. (Mostly David M., Brownian, Stanton, Kseniya, et al.)
As for my blog, it’s not designed to be either scientific or political, but I like it. :) It’s “Da Fox Hole” at Blogger.
Thanks, Dr. Myers.
p.s. I attended UMM back in the mid-80s (remembers broadcasting from good ‘ol KUMM FM in the basement) so I do know a bit about where you’re at. I had a good time there, and I learned a lot. Sorry if my posts are a bit off-topic at times, I like to be a jokester. At least you let me post on Pharyngula, that O’Leary bitch won’t.
Zeno says
Yeah, I’ve noticed that, too. Why I’ve been practically invisible since getting Mollied last month.
But put me down as a David Marjanović vote anyway. (Not that I want to see his output drop!)
bug_girl says
I’m not above shameless blog pimping!!
http://membracid.wordpress.com/
(I looked, but alas, I don’t seem to be on the list. Or at least I’m not listed as “Bug Girl”.)
Why include me?
Insects and Entomology
Random Ranting
Skepticism
General science and education
bug_girl says
what’s with the comments lately? It sort of hiccuped and I didn’t get to vote for a Molly.
The problem is, all the people I’d nominate already have a Molly. Does that count?
Skemono says
Do I have to vote for someone to get a Molly if all I want to do is point out that I’ve moved my blog and changed its title? I’m now the sole member of the Dead Racists Society (Atom feed here).
If I do have to cast a vote, then… um… Owlmirror? For fighting the good fight in this thread long after the rest of us were bored and moved on.
Dan says
Meh… If you’d like to put my blog on your blog roll, go right ahead.
http://thewisdomofadistractedmind.blogspot.com/
Skemono says
bug_girl, you’re listed as “bug_girl’s blog”, under “The Real World” category.
slim says
Hey, PZ. My blog is no fish, no nuts; it’s mostly about politics with some culture, atheism and science thrown in. I’m a maritime lawyer but don’t blog much about that – too esoteric. My current extracurricular project is trying to enlighten the very bright 16-y.o. Mormon who is my taekwondo tutor, for which any and all advice, book recommendations, etc. are accepted.
My vote for the Molly is for: Great White Wonder
Caledonian says
I nominate Ichythic, for his outstanding work in trying to get Matthew S. Nisbet to pull his head out of… the sand, and grace under threat of banning at said individual’s blog.
Speaking truth to power is easy, unless that power is combined with unreason. Ichythic speaks the truth anyway.
Ben D says
I posted a few hours ago but it doesn’t seem to have appeared, so sorry if this appears twice!
I’m an atheist grad student in London who’s just started blogging. The blog is Principles of Parsimony. It’s about science, religion and a little bit of everything else, from humour to pretty pictures. And I’ll nominate Greg Peterson.
Puddock says
Hi pz
I’d like to nominate Dorid at http://theradula.blogspot.com/ for the Molly, for her wit, the fact that she likes Dr Who and her brilliant t-shirts!
I would be extremely chuffed to have my blog added to the roll – http://theviewfromthepond.blogspot.com
Cheers
Puddock
Kseniya says
In that case, you should probably erase my name and replace it with “Josh” (or, at least, insert Josh before the et al.). Josh contributed far more informed and salient commentary than I did. Ditto Jim V. :-)
Kseniya says
I may be the exception. Seeing as how I probably didn’t deserve to be Mollified in the first place, I’m still clinging to the shredded hope of one day being able to prove myself worthy.
Oh! Speaking of Zeno…
jeffox backtrollin' says
Indeed, Kseniya. Ya ya, like Kseniya wrote, including Josh and JimV. And a few others (not me, though, I just cracked a few jokes and ate a snack or two). :)
Owlmirror says
David Marjanović, because it’s good to see demands for evidence being met with, y’know, evidence.
Besides, he’s been published in a peer-reviewed biology journal. Unless that’s someone else with the exact same name who is also very knowledgeable about biology?
DCP says
I also vote for David Marjanović. Why? To quote the Simpsons: “no one who speaks German could be an evil man”. And in addition he speaks at least two other languages as well!
Apart from his language skills he provides some very insightful comments and he also faced John A. Davison and his (Davison’s) trusty lackey VMartin in a mammoth thread a few months ago. That’s determination, folks.
Felicia Gilljam says
My problem with nominating for the Mollies is that I tend not to pay very close attention to who’s saying what… But I’ll fourth the nomination for Marjanović, he seems as deserving as any.
I’ve got a blog, Life Before Death, where I write about atheism/humanism/secularism and other stuff… like bees. From a Swedish perspective because it’s the only I know.
Ryan Flanders says
Alaric is one of my best buds at SCSU. He always has interesting, intelligent things to say. And he has an impressive memory for where he’s read things. I’m not sure if he comments on this site, but if so I’d nominate him for the award!
I vowed I’d never let myself get caught up in the “blogosphere,” but a couple months ago I cracked the top 50 list on StumbleUpon.
Here’s the funny thing: since I thought I’d never start blogging, I used my junk screen name–but now I’m stuck with it as a blog title! I wish I had picked something sexy, like Pharyngula… not to mention I’ll probably be bald two years from now! But alas, here it is:
Curly789er’s StumbleUpon Blog
The RSS link is on the bottom-right, which should point you here:
http://www.stumbleupon.com/syndicate.php?stumbler=321420&comments=1
I realize StumbleUpon blogs have a tendency to be flooded with trite memes. But I made the top list by posting only fresh, new content. I’d probably file it under the same category as Pharyngula. I s’pose that’d be a little bit o’ everything.
I get a huge kick out of your Pharyngula blog. I especially like that you don’t pull any punches, which makes for both serious and humorous commentary. You’re not afraid to say what many people are already thinking!
Keep on keepin’ on.
Mandolin says
I nominate MAJeff for a Molly.
Jolly Bloger says
If I may humbly plug myself… I have a little corner on Blogspot (link in name). The description is “Science, technology, antitheism, politics of freedom, and pirates.” I think that pretty much covers it. I’m very new to the blogosphere so I have no readers yet, aside from real world friends.
I must admit that I’ve been reading Pharyngula for quite some time, but I’ve been neglecting the comments. Can I make a deal PZ? Link to my site, and I’ll promise to be more thorough and consistent in reading and contributing to your comments. I’d hate to make a mockery of democracy by casting an uninformed vote.
heddle says
PZ,
Just in case you decide to link to the Jolly Blogger #44, make sure you do not get confused and link to this jolly blogger:
http://jollyblogger.typepad.com/
because I fear it will cause a rift in the fabric of spacetime.

Does not David Marjanović already belong to the esteemed order? Well, that looks like an oversight that’s soon to be corrected.

David Marjanović, with thanks for all his informative and well-written comments.
K. Signal Eingang says
Well, doing this Instant-Runoff style, my choices for a Molly would be, in descending order:
1: Greg Peterson, for his “somebody’s got to drive” comment, which did sum things up pretty perfectly.
2: Sastra, for saving me a lot of time and hair-pulling trying to dredge that comment out of the blog history,
3: The inanimate carbon rod.
I do maintain a MySpace blog at http://blog.myspace.com/keinsignal which is updated every 29 days, whether it needs it or not.
Greg Peterson says
Peter Irons likes me fine for Mollification, but not for a great reason. In my mind the entire book “God On Trial” is appended to his Pharyngula comments. And it’s a really good book about the struggle to keep church and state on their respective wall-sides. If it hadn’t been for his comments here, I never would have learned about this. Can I get a QED? Amen.
The Flying Trilobite says
Felicia Gilljam’s Life Before Death is blogroll-worthy. I started reading it through the-brights.net. Good stuff, Felicia!

I think I’ll hop on the David Marjanović bandwagon as well – he’s really been quite entertaining to read, and the “Wells Lied… Again” post was probably the highlight.
I’ve also just started blogging, thanks in no small part to PZ’s influence, so I’d love to have him at least take a look. I’m a recent graduate of Harvey Mudd College, and I’ve been an atheist all my life.
My blog’s name is Evaporating Puddle – the name is based on the Douglas Adams quote about the puddle that’s convinced the world was made for it, just because it fits so well in the hole it’s occupying.

Apparently I fail at HTML links. Let’s try that again.

I’ll vote for Caledonian for advancing the timecube as a unit of measurement for lunatic and cretinous posts.
My blog is Stupid Reality. I think I might just sneak it in under the one post a month deadline. It’s mostly me complaining about stuff and drawing pictures when I can’t think of anything intelligent to say, but when it does have actual content it’s usually atheism/skepticism related.
David Marjanović says
Whew…
1) Thanks for all the nominations. :-) :-) :-)
2) Kseniya, I’m scared. I had to look twice, but no, it doesn’t say FRS or FLS. You’re in the FSB… I knew you would be smart enough not to make a career instead of postdoc after postdoc after postdoc… uh… <shudder>
3) Ichthyic is already in the Order.
4) I nominate Caledonian for introducing the timecube as the unit of insanity. Yes, seriously. That alone is worth it. Plus, he nominated the well-deserving Ichthyic, and we both can’t vote for Ichthyic.
5) Yup, the Syst. Biol. paper is by me and my thesis supervisor. I have bragged about it whenever the topic of molecular dating came up. :-) (Have I yet bragged about the impact factor of Syst. Biol.? Between 7 and 10, depending on the year! Cite us! Cite us!) I can send the pdf to interested parties (warning: long and boring — and I’m not saying that for appearing humble).
6) My output is not going to decrease. It will, however, fluctuate. I’ll probably find little time next week… then again, I’m very good at stealing time (as opposed to finding it)…
7) I don’t get the joke about the Moon Commies. At the risk of killing it, Dustin, please explain it. :-] It doesn’t have something to do with the “Wells lies. Again.” post, does it?

Yet another vote for David Marjanović.
His response to the “yeah, but a finch is still not a dinosaur” and the lovely lung and heart sequence today are alone enough to qualify.
Dustin says
Don’t get me wrong, I think you deserve an award. My flippant promotion, not the person being promoted, is my way of demonstrating contempt. It’s a popularity contest, so why I like you probably isn’t going to be taken into consideration in the final tally. That’s why I make things up.
Anyway, now that everyone knows I lied up there, they probably won’t believe me when I say that I personally witnessed David’s attempts at holding back the Anarchocapitalists from Neptune with nothing more than a power saw and a laser pointer. Believe me or not it really happened!
David Marjanović says

But I’ve also linked back to this blog on several articles, as well as occasional posts from Phil Plait’s blog, and others. Hopefully you’ll be surprised with what you can do with an old point and shoot digital camera. AND, you’ll find the scarlet “A”, too.
I’ll toss a vote to MAJeff for the molly award.

The timecube as a measuring unit of kookiness was the greatest contribution ever of our resident “Grumpus Autocrat” (was it Graculus who coined the title?), so I’ll cast my vote on him.
Yeah, and I have this blog thingy going on as well – named in honor of the most attractive male nontheist alive – linked below. It’s some genuinely weird territory (including a faux Zen Buddhist Koan, a queercore band with the greatest band name ever, and a James Bond medley from Russian television, just to name a few from last week). When I need some fillers, I usually steal it from here. It’s definitely godless though. And liberal. And pro evolution.

I’d cast a vote but, like a previous poster said, I haven’t been checking the comments here very diligently. I promise to change my wicked ways.

Well, I’m certainly appreciative of Greg Peterson’s “somebody’s got to drive”, and Caledonian & his timecube. But if I’ve only got one vote, it goes to David Marjanović.
(I have to say PZ, this Molly thing of yours is impressively clever: makes your readers appreciate who all is here.)
Narc says
I’ll happily
blogwhoresubmit my blog for your blogrolling consideration. This is the most sciencey post I’ve done in a while (with charts!) This is one of the post I’m most proud of, mostly because it was to debunk the abuse of science by a local wingnut conservative (the same guy that recently filed a complaint against Daily Kos with the FEC).My Molly nomination has to go to Blake Stacey. Most recently for this comment, which lead to a great blog post of his own.
Alan Kellogg says
I’ll put in a vote for Greg Peterson, mostly because it means Marjanovic doesn’t dominate the tally so blatantly.
For Inanimate Object: Carbon Rod I nominate the #2 pencil. For without the #2 pencil, and something to write on, many a major scientific discovery/development/work/stray doodle would never have been created/made.
Where my continuing presence on PZ’s blogroll is concerned, I can only attribute it to the fact I apparently amuse the man.
Village Green says
I’m voting for Graculus. I like the name and the short to the point posts.
My blog is called “Long Live the Village Green” because somebody else took the much simpler “Village Green” before I could get my hands on it. The name is from a Kinks song. The blogging is leftwing and environmentally friendly and is by an atheist/artist/anarchist. The reason you should add it to your blog roll is because I am a huge fan of your blog and I put a photo of a fossilized cephalopod in my blog. You can find it
here
BT Murtagh says
I’d like to be on your blogroll, under People of Reason.
My blog is called Quarkscrew for no particular reason other than I liked the sound of it, and like all Blogger blogs it has an Atom RSS feed. It is for the moment mostly essays by me on atheism and rleigion related subjects, plus a poem by me once a month, plus an occasional something else. I plan to bump up the something else rate once I get off this *&^%$#@! third shift.
There are so many good posts on this site that it’s senseless to try and pick the best one ever, so I’ll just nominate Julian for the Molly based on the last post to strike me, under “Is Religion Rational?”
Chris Hallquist says
My blog is The Uncredible Hallq, which you must read because it’s title has been called the “best blog name ever.” Well, okay, that’s not the only reason. While I do everything I can to maintain a solid store of factual knowledge on a variety of topics, including New Testament scholarship and 1950’s UFO cults (interesting parallels there), I’m also a philosophy major, which means I have extensive training in noticing when the things people are saying just don’t make sense–and I’m not afraid to use it. I also chronicle my local activism, including going up against hellfire preachers with my “Smile! There is no Hell!” signs. New pictures on that last front to be posted soon.
As for the Molly: I nominte JJ Ramsey
Just kidding. Couldn’t resist the joke, because he’s been being rather annoying over at my place.

You should blog roll my blog because that’s how you roll. That and I have my finger on the pulse of more than a few interesting scattered nuggets of humorous ongoings. Also, it has been prophesied to occur specifically on this date “The blue man will push the green flower after the warmth.” Clearly referring to this very occurrence. Also, it would be exceedingly far fetched to think that each and every one of my ancestors would successfully breed and allow me to exist surmounting insurmountable odds just to in the end not get my blog listed.
I don’t think it’s modesty but it’s hard to go on and on about how awesome you are. My blog is the most awesome blog in the universe. I post blog entries like twice a day and crap. I’m amazingly funny, witty, and interesting. You should read my blog… just so you don’t miss out on life!

Greg Peterson, for writing: “Atheism is maturity. It means taking responsibility and making choices.” (comment on 9/12 post on Haidt).
And, PZ if you’re listening, could you please change Pharyngula so that when one is viewing multiple posts that it shows the date and time of the post? Currently only the time shows when viewing multiple posts. Thanks.

Meh. I don’t usually read comments threads and only rarely comment, and my blog probably isn’t worth your time, even though I don’t update it as frequently as I should.

Strong correlation here – David Marjanović, of course. His comments often reads like PZ’s posts, and what could be a better commendation? Also, as he promises to not slack off (modulo real life intrusions) after achieving the golden Molly statuette, it’s a safe bet.
Then it is currently a tossup between windy and Sastra. What can I say, I’m weak for nifty comments.
I’ll save the rest of you worthies for the next Molly.
PS. If you miss Blake, rumor has it that he works on a math wiki for The n-Category Café bloggers to work their projects in. He’s busy diversifying.
[No, I didn’t put the link in for the link junkies. (“Linkies”?) It’s my style, dammit! :-P]

My blog will be moving to its own host and domain name in a few weeks, I’ll send an update when it is ready at http://www.tuibguy.com.
For the Order of the Molly, I wish to nominate 1st Richard Dawkins just cause it is kind of cool to see him coming around here every once in a while.
My second vote is for Russell Blackford, if only because he is the 2nd coolest Australian who comments here.
Actually, I like Ruseell in his own write.

I’ve got a little blog and I would be honored if it was placed on your mega-blogroll.

Its just whatever pops into the mind of another godless liberal who’s interested in science and politics but I’ll be the first to admit that I’m a total newbie in the science realm, especially by the standards set around here. People of Reason works for me, but you can stick me wherever. Thanks!

I vote for Dustin but I don’t remember why. I just know I giggled (in a mature way of course) at two postings in the past several days and thought to myself – I’ll vote for a Molly this time.

I nominate Matt Nisbet. He’s posted a lot of comments recently and done wonders for your traffic.
OK, that was just a reminder not to drink coffee while reading comments. Seriously, I nominate David Marjanović, which proves that I am just another of your dittoheads. We all vote for the same guy, which has to mean that we have no independent minds, and it necessarily follows that today we’ll all go and burn a cross on Matt Nisbet’s lawn.
You shouldn’t ask a dittohead for reasons, but I’ll give you a bad one. When I skim through the comments and see the name “David Marjanović”, I stop and read. Of course, that may be simply because I recognize it as a name from my part of the world. After all, I wouldn’t post here if I weren’t driven entirely by tribalist instincts.
OK, enough Molly already. Time to do something useful, i. e., to promote my blog.
Why should you include it in your blogroll? There are more reasons than Allah has names, but I’ll be merciful and list just a few.
1. It is called Gnash Equilibrium and written by a beautiful gmind.
2. You can’t resist a blog described as “curmudgeonly contributions to a more positive-sum world”.
3. It has posts like this one and this one and this one.
4. It will be a Vader some day later and you’ll be able to say you promoted it when it was just a small fry.
5. I know where you live. (Didn’t Matt warn you not to trust anonymous posters?)
6. See #5, but to save on travel expenses, I have a voodoo doll of you.
7. There may not be other reasons, but 7 is a lucky number and you need more superstition on this blog.
Now where should you put my blog? I don’t see a category named “Read This Or The Lord Will Smite You” so it will have to be an imperfect fit. “A little bit of everything” is where I’d put myself, but I can’t deny that I belong to the minority group “People of Reason” although I am genetically only 1/32 reasonable. You could put me among the Lefties, but do it at your own risk; you should never trust a curmudgeon’s political affiliation. And finally, if nothing else works, put me in “The Real World”; I promise I am not a fictional character. (If I am, sue me.)
Advertising mode off. Now I can go back to being my modest, humble self.
Oops, not yet; I forgot the feed. It is here, I think. I am new to this blog and feed stuff. Blog-blog! Oink oink!

Believe it or not, I am usually not a complete moron. I had trouble posting the comment, but the results are even more monstruous than I feared. I apologize for the triple post. Better yet, I blame it on ScienceBlogs, Bill Gates, Al Gore and God Al (-lmighty).

No, no, no! What a waste of a perfectly good cross that would be. I’m sure we could put it to a better purpose.

Not that it really matters, but I changed my blog’s name from “Daily Irreverence” to “Measured Against Reality”. Update it if you so choose.

There is no such thing. Scienceblogs is lying to you.
When you get an error message, it means that Scienceblogs has trouble displaying the page after your comment has arrived. But it has arrived. It always gets through. The moment you click on “Send”, nobody but the spam filter can stop it from appearing on the page.

Since I see Luna the Cat hasn’t got one yet, I’ll nominate her. I may be disagreeing with her on the latest student thread, but I’ve gotta admit it’s a pretty cool argument….
