I was gonna ask what regulations could be bad, given that most of the world’s worst problems are from a lack of them. But then I thought of pretty much everything related to transgender people’s bodies and legal identities. The best places in the world still have a long way to go on that shit.

The TRAP laws aimed at abortion clinics are another example.
I think we also need to be on the lookout for good-seeming regulations that basically amount to some group like the fossil fuel industry crushing any threats to their power.

One of the main ways of telling how badly off-track the Republican party has gone is their “All regulations are bad” attitude.
The thing, is, yes, SOME regulations ARE bad. Sometimes they were poorly drafted. Sometimes the law of unintended consequences means they cause more problems than they solve. Sometimes the original problem they were meant to solve goes away, but the regulation lives on. So if a Republican administration said something like “I would like a review process for all government regs, to see which ones would are not effective, and which ones maybe should be strengthened,” that would be great.
But we need to remember that every regulation was originally put in place for a reason. We need to at least acknowledge that, and review what that reason was. Attacking all regulations indiscriminately means exactly what you say: they don’t care about life, safety, or anything else.
