Self Care – Recipe from Nana Michelle: Ahi Limu Poke

I’m sharing a recipe today. No, it’s not my own.

I honestly love raw fish. Always have. Sushi, sashimi, tartare, poke… something about it is really good to me. This is one of my favorite poke recipes

Ahi Limu Poke Bowl

Ahi Limu Poke Bowl

2 lbs. Ahi (yellow fin tuna) chopped
1/1 cup Limu (Seaweed)
1 clove garlic, finely chopped
1 tsp. sesame seed, crushed
1 Tbsp. Oyster Sauce
1 Tbsp. Shoyu
1/2 cup green onion
1/2 tsp. Hawaiian Salt (add a little more for fish)
1/2 of a chili pepper
2 tsp. sesame seed oil
Topping:
Sweet onion, sliced
1 Tsp. Tobiko (flying fish roe)
Furikake

Directions:
1) Combine the base ingredients together
2) Put a layer of fresh hot cooked rice down in your bowl
3) Place the Ahi Limu base over the rice.
4) Top it off layering with the sweet onion first, the Tobiko second and last the shake the Furikake over the top

If you end up making it, let me know what you think!

    Om nom nom!!!

For those of us who live in the hinterlands, there are sellers on amazon that offer flash-frozen tuna. It arrives fedex in dry ice; I let it warm enough that it’s still frozen but I can cut it with a sharp knife, then I re-bag and re-freeze it in smaller chunks.
