No, this is not about something he said or did in the last day or two. Actually, it’s a blast from the past. And… I’m kinda late to blogging about it, too… but so what?
I’m watching the episode of TWiBPrime from February 22nd(?), and they talked about Bill Maher taking credit for Milo Fuckface-opoulos’s downfall after that clip of him defending pedophilia came out.
I love how Bill Maher felt very comfortable doing that, when he’s defended pedophilia in that past, as well…
Maher appears to see nothing wrong with a 14-year-old student’s love affair with a teacher 20 years older that produced two children.
“Basically, they’re having a family and they’re keeping the mother in jail because she won’t conform to the perfect American family,” Maher said to groans from the guests and audience.
“How can a woman rape a man?” Maher asked.
He then defends his statement in an interview with Playboy…
“I’m the only guy I’ve ever heard who defends Mary Kay Letourneau,” Maher told the magazine. “If a 28-year-old male teacher is screwing a 13-year-old girl, that’s a crime. But with Debra Lafave [another teacher who had sex with a student] screwing her 14-year-old boy student, the crime is that we didn’t get it on videotape. Was he being taken advantage of? I wish I had been taken advantage of like that. What a memory she gave him!”
So men can rape women, but women cannot rape men.
Is that… is that misandry I smell?
Le GASP!
Sunlight is the best disinfectant, Maher. I hope this is the end of you and your shit show (but my cynical self reminds me that it most likely isn’t). Go fuck yourself sideways into the ocean with a cactus.
Oh excuse me… it’s hebephilia. My bad. *eye-roll*

Isn’t every time that Bill Maher opens his mouth a reminder that he’s an asshole?

If I may be so bold as to suggest an improvement.

Ha! That’s good, but a little too violent, you know?
At least with the ocean there’s a chance of survival, so it’s not necessarily a death wish…

Bill Maher is an asshole
True, but Bill Maher is a late-night talk show host. I don’t think anyone should consider him some sort of moral or intellectual authority; and I think anyone who does should engage in some serious self-examination.
It should be noted that Maher’s views female-on-male sexual assault were commonplace when he made those comments. That’s no excuse, for sure, but I wasn’t particularly shocked when Sweary TV Guy was shown to have a faulty moral compass.
