I like Jessie Gender. I will heartily recommend her videos in general (though admittedly, I don’t much care for the strictly Star Trek content). She is a kind and forgiving voice with a flair for intellectually dissecting conflicts. Sometimes, however, too kind and forgiving, as with her recent video on the too-much-discussed Dave Chappelle.
The “audit” in Arizona has not gone to wingnut plan.
The final report was set to be released Friday, the result of a monthslong partisan review funded partly by taxpayers. The draft circulated Thursday night, showing the results of the review’s chaotic hand-count of all 2.1 million ballots in Maricopa County, home to Phoenix. The tally in the draft document showed a net gain of 360 votes for Biden over the official results.
I’m white, and from a place where the population was well over 98% white. I am therefore not qualified to discuss these topics. So in honor of Juneteenth, here are a small collection of hubs leading to better voices to listen to.

For the next few hours, everyone scrambled about on their assigned duties, trying to get something, anything, concretely understood before the blizzard hit. For security, it was a constant struggle to keep the creature – which the security personnel had taken to referring to simply as ‘That Thing’ – contained, while the scientists took inconclusive samples and measurements and racked their brains about what to do. The cephalopod squirmed constantly and flailed its arms whenever they got loose. An observer from above would think Beagle Station was doing much the same as pressure mounted on its desperate people.
