This is the best Jesus

Behold:

“And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe cat wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying chilling in a manger like he owns the place.”

Maybe had I learned about this Jesus in my formative years I would’ve stuck around longer.

And the wise men brought him gifts of tuna, milk rings and mysterious fuzzy toys, and they worshipped him, which was the least they could do, frankly.

Just stumbled on an interesting wikipage about a breed of dog that apparently was worshiped by the folks in the ancient Levantine world :

The Canaan dog is believed to have been a primitive feral in ancient Canaan. Excavations in Israel, unearthed the largest known dog cemetery in the ancient world containing 700 dog skeletons, all of which were anatomically similar to the Canaan dog of modern times. Archaeologists hypothesize that the dogs were revered as sacred animals. [3]

Seems this breed went wild again and has been re-domesticated largely too. Closets thing to a dingo in that area really.

Probly a bit big to fit in a manger but ma-aybe … (Shrug) 😉

Looking at the nativity scene again…
either that is a very tiny cat or Mary and Joseph are huge!
    also Joe is wearing pink.

Our fourteen-pound boy (he was neutered as an adult, so he has that very solid build) goes absolutely silly for milk rings. It’s the same reaction he has to finding a mouse. I do not know what it could possibly be about those little plastic rings that sets off the predatory instincts.

chigau: Some plastic jugs of milk or juice open by pulling off the strip of plastic that seals the bottom of the cap to the jug. It is the same plastic as the cap – they’re one piece, but with a weak line separating the ring from the cap. After it’s removed it’s a broken ring with a little tab sticking out perpendicularly from one of the ends.
I’m really hoping that you’ve seen them, because I had no idea how difficult it is to describe a milk ring.
I just googled “milk ring cat toy” and there is also a type that comes off as an unbroken ring lined with tiny tabs, and also you can buy bags of them that are sold specifically as cat toys.
If you see our big cat tearing around like he’s chasing an animated tuna can, there’s either a milk ring or a small pompom involved.
