So, tonight, one of the true traditions of the season…
I’m sitting in a cozy room
With Cuttlekid and Cuttlespouse
We’re watching Charlie Brown again
As custom goes, in Cuttlehouse
It’s not the babe, it’s not the manger
Not the shining star above
I hope that Linus would approve,
But Christmas is for those we love
I have no need for heavenly host
I have no need for newborn king…
This evening spent with Charlie Brown?
I would not trade for anything.

Ramen!!!
Love Charlie Brown, although he seems to be something of a doormat.

Schulz ended up a secular humanist.
One thing about the Charlie Brown Christmas that both atheists and Christians should be able to agree on is that it’s not about “great big shiny aluminum Christmas trees” and holiday light contests.
Gregory says
Hark the Herald Tribune sings,
Advertising wondrous things.
God rest ye merry, merchants,
May you make the yuletide pay.
Angels we have heard on high
Tell us to go out and buy!
Tom Lehrer knew his Christmas.

You know what I find ironic. This cartoon was produced in the 1960s. Dr. Seuss wrote “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” in the 50s. “Miracle on 34th Street” was produced in 1947. For decades, people have been fretting about the over-commercialization of Christmas.
So, what has the panties of the uber-Christians in a bunch these days?
That department stores aren’t fully exploiting Christmas to get their business.
