I hope that they have helicopters in the air to aid in the search for the perp(s). This kind of excessive lawlessness MUST NOT be tolerated! What is society coming to?

Actually, by and large they are a pretty good bunch. When my old (and since deceased) terrier went missing they were really helpful despite it not being their job. The officer who spoke to me even rang back at the end of her shift to see if I had found her and seemed genuinely pleased to hear that I had. As police forces go, Northumbria’s is very satisfactory.

I’ve been listening to a lot of M C Beaton audiobooks lately.
Sounds like something that would happen in Loch Dubh, Sutherland!

But it *is* very important to Always Know Where Your Towel Is.
Or so the Guide[book] tells me…

Is anyone really going to wring?

    Okay, I’ll stop.

This reminds me of some of the newspaper banners outside the corner grocery–I think my favourite so far was ‘DOG EATS COUPLE’S WEDDING CAKE.’ There just isn’t that much news in the north of England, I guess.

I don’t see any reason to fold so quickly. Some of us appreciate dry humor.

For those who have not yet had the pleasure, may I recommend a visit to the Isles of Scilly police force blog (IslesofScillyPolice on facebook). I suppose it’s something made possible by the existence of a very small and largely economically stable + socially/racially homogenous community … but I still couldn’t help kind of wanting to live there.

They would probably help you find your towel too.
