The mad Saudis really are stuck, as you say in your next post too. Most of the point of torture is to terrorize others into compliance without having to expend the type of minute-by-minute control it would otherwise take.
So if they let Raif go, in their own minds they’ve just declared open season on themselves. Underlings might start non-complying all over the place.
If they don’t let him go, jetsetters may no longer invite them to the best parties.
A terrible dilemma.
