You used that word

India has other horrible rapes. (As does the US. I’m not claiming any national superiority here.)

On most days, Indian newspapers report shocking new atrocities – a 10-month-old raped by a neighbour in Delhi; an 18-month-old raped and abandoned on the
streets in Calcutta; a 14-year-old raped and murdered in a police station in
Uttar Pradesh; a husband facilitating his own wife’s gang rape in Howrah…

One of the most painful and lingering cases is that of the Mumbai nurse Aruna Shanbaug.

Sodomised by a cleaner in the hospital where she worked, the 25-year-old was strangled with metal chains and left to die by her attacker, Sohanlal Bharta Walmiki, on 27 November 1973.

She was saved and survives, but barely so. For the past 39 years she has been lying in a hospital bed in a vegetative state, brain dead, unable to recognise anyone, unable to speak, unable to perform even the most basic of tasks.

Violence against women is deeply entrenched in the feudal, patriarchal Indian society, where for the rapist, every woman is fair game.

Ah ah ah – you’re not allowed to use the word “patriarchal.” There is no such thing. There are only women who fail to take proper precautions.

Well obviously the females involved were all breaking the rules in a provocative manner (toddlers included).

Everybody knows that only wicked women get raped, and that everything would be just ginger peachy if the feminazis would drop their ridiculous demands for women to be able to breathe.
    /snark.

The 10 month old must have been pre-emptive. They wanted to put her in her place before she learned to wear slutty diapers.

No one is stopping you from using patriarchal. It seems to be the goto word.

And you are certainly encouraged to use the word patriarchal in its correct, scientfic meaning, as a descriptive.

What people that disagree with you say, is that to raise patriarchal to Patriarchal, to invoke it as invisible Sky Demon, to assign it to people that have no power and then claim they do, to use it as an enemy to raise against and fund raise against, to use it to demonize all men, to use it to force the US into a square hole is an abuse of the word.

And your behavior in that raises questions about your ability to think critically, be skeptical, or understand science.

But by all means, use the culture and society in India to advance your theories of culture and society in the United States, because if you were at all honest, even in the slightest, you would admit that that is what you are doing here.

Someone here told you that Patriarchy as you use it isn’t a meaningful concept, so there you are exploiting the brutality in India to advance your complaints about the US. Just as white women have abused and exploited brown women for centuries.

I disagree with olivercrangle. And since I’m even sciencier, with 50% more skepticality and new and improved rationalisticalism, I’m right.

Crangle, I’m having serious doubts™ about you.

    Also, you’re cult-like.

Since I’ve hit all the buzzwords that skeptics use instead of argumentation, I win.

Just as white women have abused and exploited brown women for centuries.

Remember when Dawkins did exactly this? ‘Dear Muslima’ obviously raises questions® about his ability to think critically, be skeptical, or understand science. It also casts serious doubts™ on his understanding of rationalism, rationality, rations, and ratios. I bet he doesn’t even know which BTO song is the best, neither.

So, can we fire the entire atheoskepticsphere and start over with people who know how to make compelling and convincing arguments? Jenny McCarthy, perhaps?

What the fucking fuck are you talking about, “olivercrangle”? What behavior? What “Patriarchy” with a capital letter?

As for “there you are exploiting the brutality in India to advance your complaints about the US. Just as white women have abused and exploited brown women for centuries” – have you ever read this blog and its associated website at all? Have you read Does God Hate Women? Do you know anything about me at all? Or did you just take the word of the goons at Team Hatred?

    You’re an ignorant buffoon.

The list of atrocities coming out of India seems like a bottomless pit, another “Black Hole of Calcutta”. Considering the history of that term and location of the crimes, it’s an appropriate analogy except that it’s women and children instead of British soldiers who are dying in appalling conditions.

To top it off, the boyfriend of the murdered young woman reports that people passed them by without trying to help, and the police stood around with their hands in their pockets instead of taking the two to hospital.

He probably thinks “You Ain’t Seen Nothin’ Yet” is the best, when it’s obvious that the the Provincial rock anthem of Manitoba, “Takin’ Care of Business”, is the best.
