Over the next couple months I’m going to be making my way from coast to coast. Here’s my current schedule, in case you want to catch one of my talks:
2/19/2011
Thousand Oaks, CA
Secular Student Alliance Southern California Leadership Summit
Then my Spring Break Minnesota Tour!
3/22/2011
St. Cloud, MN
Secular Student Alliance at St. Cloud State University
3/23/2011
Morris, MN
University of Minnesota Morris Freethinkers
3/24/2011
Minneapolis, MN
Campus Atheists, Skeptics, and Humanists at the University of Minnesota
Woooooo, partaaaay! …Wait, doesn’t everyone go to Minnesota for spring break? No? Hey, any SSA affiliates in warm states, you know you totally want me to come visit next winter.
I’ll release the specific times and locations for the Minnesota talks once we get closer.
4/09/2011
Boston, MA
American Humanist Association Annual Conference
I may have a trip to North and South Carolina thrown in there, but those aren’t completely set in stone yet.
…Yes, I know, I’m crazy. Also, my PhD is going to take 24 years to finish.
Josh Benton says
Hmm, nothing near here. Ah well. Best of luck with the speaking engagements, and the 24 year PhD.
Camus Dude says
Woo! I live in Minnesota! My home town is St. Cloud, but I live nearer the Twin Cities (Minneapolis) now (Inver Grove Heights). SQUEEEEEEEEE!
Charon says
Alas, UW requires you complete the degree in >=10 years ;)
Charon says
Ugh, no comment editing. I meant <=10 years! Perhaps that was a Freudian slip, having done my own PhD at UW, and it felt like it took… a while.
Mike Brownstein says
You have the benefit of knowing where you’re getting your PhD from
Kelley Freeman says
Wooo, come to South Carolina! \O/
Oz Tilson says
crazy or not- I only care about where you will be just before Mother’s dayWOOT Canada gets McCreight!
Sam Barnett-Cormack says
I guess the UK is, practically speaking, just not going to happen… :(
Jen says
One day! Just probably not in the next year. Hope I publish a book or something :P
Greg in ND says
You’re going to be in Morris and you won’t make it over to Fargo? What a shame. Maybe I’ll have to come down there.
Sam Barnett-Cormack says
Purely a random thought, because it’s not your cup of tea, but I really wish someone were talking, highish profile, about non-theism in religion. As a religious non-theist myself, y’know…I suppose I’d write about it myself, but there’s no way I’d consider myself an authority about it. Mind you, judging by my specific searches for non-theist Quaker stuff, not many people are.
Sam Barnett-Cormack says
On a more positive note, I guess that means it’s pretty likely to happen eventually. I find it hard to imagine you won’t have your own book sooner or later, if you want to go for that.
Sam says
I’m sure you’ve seen nontheistfriends.org, since a Google search turns that up easily. Seems to involve James Riemermann, who is part of the Twin Cities Friends Meeting in Minnesota, which has a regular meeting of “Quakers without God.” Somewhere on my shelves — can’t find it now — there’s a book… ah, here it is: http://www.quakerbooks.org/god…
Sam says
I had no idea there was an SSA presence at St. Cloud State. Looking forward to it!
Sam Barnett-Cormack says
Indeed, I want a copy. If it was available on Kindle, I’d’ve bought it already.
Cory Albrecht says
You’re going to AHAAC instead of NECSS? :-(
Angela says
Any chance of a SoCal meet-up for those of us who can’t quite afford the SSA event in time and money? Also, I find it hilarious that the event is being held at California Lutheran University when there are so many non-religious universities in the area…
Kyrosion says
Ooh, I’m hoping for a North Carolina visit… then maybe I can make it from Virginia Tech!
Bruce Coppola says
When are you coming to Detroit? You chicken or something? We’re actually very nice. Hey, we’ll even throw in a Chevy!
torero says
This must be a sign from the Gods.Ever since I did a work on George Manuel, Kamloops has been appearing regularly to me. I thought it wasn’t that big of a town, but it’s like the tenth time I see it referenced in 5 months.
Azkyroth says
Oakland is driving distance and right at the end of finals week and I’ll definitely deserve it, but whether there’ll be money for tickets is a crapshoot. There’s a chance I’ll be there.
Arkonbey says
Car keys: If you can prove to a dealer you own the car (which might be difficult as the registration is in the glove box, yes?), you can give them the VIN and buy a new key. I did this on an eight-year-old Subaru when my key started developing a fracture that looked as though it would fail soon and made it impossible to reliably be copied.I’m assuming that in the future, you’ll make a copy…
Nicole Schrand says
Best wishes for your travels, and good luck with your key problem!*Starts scheming to entice you further east in the fall*
Togii says
That’s pretty awesome… I wish there were a locksmith like that out in here in hickville, Missouri. If I want to lock myself out of something, it better be between 9-5, Monday-Friday… @_@ Enjoy your busy schedule~
davisgabriel2 says
Blargh…Eugene is so close, yet, so far :/
Daniel Schealler says
EDIT: OMG OMG I FOUND MY SPARE CAR KEY! IT WAS…in my car. WTF. I literally screamed “WHY WOULD I PUT YOU THERE?!?!?!” when I found it in the valet key compartment….Ha.Hahah.Heh.Hahahahahaheh!Hahahahhhahaahahaha!*continues laughing maniacally*
Eric_RoM says
“Hide-A-Key®”. Just sayin’.
Jeanette says
Student tickets are only $20! That’s the only reason I can afford it :)
Jeanette says
Yay!! I’m so glad at least part of that whole thing got resolved. And, I can’t wait to see you in Oakland! :D :D :D
Michigancolt says
OAKLAND!!!!! AHHHHHHH!!!! I think that’s also the weekend of an obedience trial … but hey, the pup and I would probably both enjoy an atheist meetup more! :D
loreleion says
That sounded really fun until I realized it was a dog show. >.>
madarab says
Is there any chance that your talks will be recorded and sent to YouTube or someplace similar for us to watch?
Cdalla says
Oakland is a bit over four hours away. I wish I could go very much, but with the cost of gas and the ticket…Really disappointing. Hopefully you’re far enough from the bible belt I’m in, that our rapture party wont be crashed!
