So…who’s up for a Seattle meetup?

Ok, ok. I know I just got in the car a couple of hours ago. I’m probably not even out of Wisconsin yet. But from all my rambling about Seattle the last couple of months, it seems I have a lot of readers there. And, well, I’m going to be a stranger in a new city, so might as well meet some people, right?

So, Pub Night! Woooo!

If you’re interested, please say so in the comments. And let me know which dates out of the 17th, 18th, or 19th work for you. Seattlites (is that correct? WTF do Seattle people call themselves?) can suggest an awesome pub venue. Something in Wallingford would be awesome, since I’m not sure I’ll have mastered navigating the city yet. You don’t want to be responsible for me getting lost forever, do you?

Axe murdering readers, please don’t answer that last question. Or come to the pub night.

PS: Did you know Greta Christina is going to be in Seattle Sept 12? The venue is small, but I’m going to try to make it!

Seattlites is the word. I love the idea. It would be great to say hi and meet some folks. I vote for the 18th. The Seamonster Lounge in Wallingford is very appropriate. http://www.seamonsterlounge.co… They got beer, healthy snacks, and they’re just damn cool. Looks like they got music starting at 10pm on the 18th, but we’d probably meet before then anyway, so we can hear each other talk. Drive safely!Lucas (@looocas)

My wife and I would love to introduce you to the finer cocktail establishments in the Capitol Hill and downtown area. Also, you should look up on Facebook, LUPEC Seattle (Ladies United for the Preservation of the Endangered Cocktail) which is a once a month ladies only cocktail group that meets at the best bars in Seattle to educate its members and support establishments that put quality and service first.Gary

You’re welcome in Vancouver anytime. The SFU Skeptics, UBC Freethinkers or BC Humanists would love to set something up. Just send us an email.

HI, we’re up for a Meet up any of those evenings. The BlueStar in Wallingford is also good, has plenty of room, tasty drinks and snacks.

I get in on the 12th for a course but I’m only there until the 15th, otherwise I’d be there. Hey Seattlites, I was thinking about heading to a microbrewery to try the local grog, since I’ll probably only get to one I was thinking about the Pike Pub and Brewery or the Elysian. Which one should I choose?

The only good pubs I know of are down in West Seattle, where I live, but I’d love to come up to Wallingford wherever and whenever!

Well, I’d love to, but I’m in Portland…. maybe we could organize a trip to the beach before the summer is completely over (Astoria, Cannon Beach … they’re kinda halfway and they’re pretty too!). Just an idea ;)Oh, and welcome in the area, people tend to really fall in love with it!

Unfortunately I could only make it on the 17th, but if it goes down on the 18th I totally understand. Blue Star is great with lots of good beers on tap (and the best breakfast in town).

You’ve got me feeling nostalgic. I briefly lived in Wallingford (saw Dave Matthews occasionally at the grocery), attended grad school at the better public University in Indiana, and have traveled your route several times. At least when I was there, an English pub that had a good quiz night was next door at Fremont (be sure to catch the Solstice parade and naked bikers in June), and a Portland-based brew pub was nearby as well (don’t quite recall the names). If your car breaks down in South Dakota, I’d buy you and the companion an adult beverage.

Just checked twitter so I thought I would add a few comments re: South Dakota. From Wall to Rapid you will be able to see the Badlands and Black Hills (but not the best views). If you have the time, you should go see Mt. Rushmore. It’s no Corn Palace, but it’s alright. You’re lucky with the FatTire. We’ve only had it for the last year or so.No mention of pro fur billboards?

In Wallingford? I second the Seamonster Lounge. If you like a good rowdy club without the meathead vibe I suggest you make it up to Neighbours (straitest gay bar? gayest strait bar?) on Capital Hill sometime. And if you want to meet some real godless geeks sometime, and think corsets, librarian glasses, and combat boots make for lovely evening wear, have someone get you into The Mercury. By the way… been lurking for a while and found your blog about the same time I started my personal study of humanism. Seattle’s a lucky place to get you!

haha hi Ian! I was just about to make the same comment- please come to Vancouver and we will buy you lots of booze and stuff. I told Greta to tell you ‘hi’ because I’m a total fangirl. :)

Definitely interested in a meetup! I haven’t been to the Seamonster despite living mere blocks from it, so would support it over the Blue Star, whose food I don’t like. Good luck with the driving and the fearsome No Easy Internet Access.

So…. when/where is this thing going to happen? :)A friend of mine wants to visit Seattle, so I was thinking that maybe I could make it too to the meetup.
