If you haven’t yet deduced from my manic tweets, I’m busy. Really friggin‘ busy. But the best thing to do when you’re busy is to procrastinate, so here’s a super quick blog update for you guys.
1. Ray Comfort is a douchenozzle. To secretly move the release of his sullied version of the Origin up a day for the sole purpose of avoiding counter events shows his true colors. He is a scheming slimeball who knows his side has no intellectual merit, and the only way to gain followers is to avoid the peaceful reply of his opponent. Oh, and no, his people did not pass out the Origin at Purdue. I guess we’re just already so religious and conservative that he didn’t want to waste his time here.
2. Guess what came in the mail last week, and what I wore today?Woooo! My PZ vs Ken Ham Creation Museum Memorial Shirt! It looks awesome on black (a little washed on on white, but still alright). If you have no idea why PZ is on a squid and battling Ken Ham on a T-Rex, you should probably go here, newbie.
Ok, back to writing my summary of the sex determining gene in chickens. WOO BIOLOGY!

I'm not sure if he moved it up for all schools, or schools who voiced that they are doing something. I didn't see anyone distributing books at University of Illinois today, I'm hopoing there'll be someone around tomorrow. If there is, I can pick you up a copy, Jen :)

One of their sites said they'd be hitting us here before they took it down, and I noticed some flyers from a campus group that was planning to protest, but I didn't see them anywhere (of course, I was rather busy… I was up until around 4 AM last night finishing up a microprocessor design and didn't get out much today as a result). I'll keep my eyes open tomorrow.

For some reason, I've had dreamed about the same squid fighting the same dinosaur many times. Each dream is different slightly but the ending is always the same. The squid always wins because it's more adaptive and feisty.

I'm at IU in Bloomington, and I didn't see anyone handing out Comfort's book.
From what I was able to gather from comments at PZ's two threads on the topic, the only Indiana schools hit so far are University of Southern Indiana and Ivy Tech in Indy, which is strange. Indiana has three top 100 schools (Notre Dame, IU, Purdue), and yet apparently not one of them was targeted.

I have yet to hear from the University of Oklahoma or Oklahoma State University if it was passed out there, but I don't think so. I know it was passed out at the University of Texas, Austin. I think that was the closest to me.

@WesThey were actually handing out copies of Comfort's book at IU when Dawkins had his talk. I'm not sure what the organization was that was doing it, but a bunch of us ended up getting super pre-release copies. Lucky us D:

Sili,
Ham and the dinosaur represent religion and creationists in the war between science and religion. We are at the beginning of the battle. Religion has the upper hand. Squid and PZ represent science. We are in disadvantage at the beginning.

They did show up at OU, except on Tuesday the 17th a day earlier than Ray's early date. They truly fear discussion and criticism.

This email was forwarded around the department today:
Guess this means IU is one of the 50 most atheistic universities! There is an evangelical Christian group handing out copies of Origin of Species on campus today (Thursday). (corner of 7th and Woodlawn near the IMU). It is the actual book but it has a “special introduction”. Here’s the YouTube video on it:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GN9zpf5cT0M

I went by 7th and Woodlawn twice today during my perambulations about campus and didn't see them. The weather is kinda shitty today, so maybe they didn't stick around for very long.
Alas, I guess I won't get my extra special copy of the Origin. :(
