Phillips teaches that a woman is never to be out from under male authority no matter her age or marital condition, and that being under male authority includes complete submission and obedience, because God speaks to women through their male authorities. This is nothing short of slavery.
Christians all too often criticize mainstream Muslims for failing to police the more radical and barbaric of their sects, but turn a blind eye to oppression and medieval morality in their own ranks.
The irony is quite profound don’t you think? That they happily criticize other people for doing what they do while at the same time professing to believe a book that says:

When I relocated to Texas a couple of years ago, got to hear some thoughts about a successful christian marriage on the radio driving down. Women were being assured that the key virtues for a christian wife were forgiveness (of cheating) and obedience. I could not help but wonder if the next week’s advice might be on how to pick out a fashionable burka.
