If that thistle were here, I would identify it as a Canadian thistle. Then I’d be really horrified and dig up all the roots I could find. But I don’t know what types of thistle you get there, so no idea, really. They are pretty! They are just not real desired in a hay field.

It looks similar to what we call Fewleaf thistles (Cirsium remotifolium). Of course, all of the thistles I see are Canadian. ;-)
