Harakka in Autumn: Chapter 17

It’s time to bid farewell to the island of Harakka and I’d like to thank Ice Swimmer for sharing this special place with all of us. It’s been a wonderful adventure and I’m going to miss these quiet walks filled with colour and beauty.

Chapter 17 – Sea, Sky and Farewell

This is the final part of the story of my autumnal visits to Harakka. We start with an interlude with the theme Sea and Sky.

These are such a perfect finale, I nearly cried. I love those shots of the sea and sky flowing together into one indistinct horizon.

  2. Ice Swimmer says

Thank you, all, for coming along! Thank you for providing this venue!

A week after these photos were taken, the boat connection was shut down for winter. Now there is ice in the cracks of the rocks, which has wedged them to become a bit wider. Gulls, terns and geese are spending their winter in places where the sea doesn’t freeze and grass isn’t covered with snow. The yachting club hasn’t published the time table for this year yet.

The big cruiseferries shuttle between Helsinki and Tallinn and Stockholm and cargo ships are transporting cargo and get assisted by icebreakers when needed, but otherwise, the sea is pretty much left to the fish, seals and crows who spend some of their time on ice.
