A Painting

Sorry for being so quiet lately. I could explain, but there is no point to it. Sometimes I genuinely do not have the time, but mostly I just cannot muster the strength. Inspiration got away with the sun.

So today for lack of better material, here is one of my paintings from way back when I still had the strength to actually do something and managed to follow through. It does not have a name (none of my paintings has) because I do not like to prompt people what they are supposed to see and how to interpret it.

Distemper on HDF coated with bone-glue based gesso, lacquered, 610×485 mm.

Oh what beautiful warm colours, thank you for sharing this on what, here at least, is a miserable wet grey day.

Sorry you are feeling uninspired. I hope you feel more communicative soon, but don’t take that as pressure to post, rather as hope for your well being.

I like that. Very good. There is quite a bit there, isn’t there? I imagine naming a painting can be as instructive as dancing about architecture.

I googled distemper. That is fascinating in it’s own right.

I agree with Jazzlet. Never any need to explain your quietness, but hope you are well.

I’m sorry to hear that you’ve been suffering with seasonal depression. It makes everything in life more difficult. Have you ever tried light therapy? It didn’t work very well for me because there were other issues, but I have a friend who says she can’t get through the winter without it.
Now, about your painting. I like it. A lot. The colours are fiery and intense and give me a jolt of heat before I even take in the subject matter which also has heat. Thanks for sharing it.

I’ve been wondering if you have names for your paintings in your own mind that you just don’t share?

I don’t know what you mean by “lack of better material”, this is as good as it gets! :) I love the painting, Charly, you are very talented. Thanks for sharing.

I’m sorry this season is so hard for you. Take care.

I love the hot colours and the way you play with shapes in the painting. It is a pleasure to see your paintings. Also, I feel one good way to do art (of many good ways) is to leave out words and let the work represent itself.

I concur with people above on the depression and quietness.

Warm colours! Whats the reflection, whats reality? I really like it!

I am with Jazzlet and the others, please do not feel pressured to post. Take the time you need for yourself. We will welcome you back, when you feel like communicating again!
