I have a colleague who has a pet horse and also a pet spider.
This is the card she got for her birthday:
It’s a bit rushed because I totally forgot that I had to have it done for that day, but I had the idea all set up in my head. And mostly got it right.

What a lovely and thoughtful birthday card. I’m loving all the little details!

Ha!
Mr. Ed knew it was love the first time he looked into all 8 of her eyes, but it was her legs that made him mad with desire. They were so long, so hairy, so many!

A wonderful card.
8 legs open up new possibilities in gaits. Is the horse doing a 7-beat gait in the picture?
ridana says
Sleipnir!
kestrel says
Love it! An araquinid!

That short little story has brightened my day, it makes me giggle every time I think about it.

I’ve been doing individualized birthday cards for my colleagues for only a couple of years now. Strangely enough, I don’t really do them for other people, not even family. I have a small archive somewhere, perhaps I shall have to share a few more! (I know Caine has shared at least one because it was a horse, but there are others…) Some don’t have much of a point to them besides being pretty, but others are inside-ish work-related jokes -- in fact, the whole thing started with just such an inside joke…

I stopped counting after 5. ;) Though I doubt it has a true gallop, probably something closer to the arachnoid scurry except with an equine flair.

rq,
Please share. I’d love to see more of your art.

Its jumps would be amazing, but its vertical sprints would be hard to sit.
