Everywhere a nut, nut!! This year has been extremely generous in the nut department, but knowing the distribution schedule, we’ll be out by christmas.
And also, as mentioned previously, the world’s giantest squirrel diligently seeking out those nuts causes a certain percentage loss per windy day. More on that later… Have some nuts!

I used to have a walnut tree, but it died this year. I don’t think I ever got more than 2 nuts from it because the squirrels took them all, harvesting them before they were even ripe, never mind falling off the tree. It was always aggravating to find discarded nuts that the squirrels wouldn’t eat once they realized they were still green inside. You’d think they would’ve learned to wait.
That is completely nuts.
I have this year again more than we can possibly eat. I willl have to try and sell as many as possible to colleagues, but some of those still have nuts from last year (I was insisting on selling no less than 2 kg per person).

Further south (and much lower in elevation) from me, they grow pistachios. Apparently properties with a grove of pistachios go for quite a pretty penny! I wish they would grow here. I’d love to have a tree that produced nuts.
We have a young walnut tree that produced nuts last year and this, but we haven’t had any yet. Last year some were blown off and a squirrel got the rest, this year all fieteen that we could see were blown off in a storm still at the green stage.
