I’ve been thinking a lot about Caine today as I tended to some admin tasks. And then I found this in my inbox. It’s from Nightjar and it’s perfect. Thanks.
I’d like to dedicate this set to the memory of Caine, it was 100% inspired by her and she was in my thoughts as I planned and took each picture. It’s the kind of photography I would probably not even think of doing if I hadn’t met her. And yes, flash at dusk, a technique I picked up from her. I wish she could know how much she’s missed.

Beautiful. I love the progression. The flash at dusk technique brings out such a nice contrasting effect -- though I admit, I haven’t yet managed to master it like this. Nicely done, Nightjar!

rq, it took me a while to figure it out, but for me results improved when I decided to try decreasing flash exposure compensation to something around -2. I don’t know if you’ve tried it, for me it made a big difference.

Thanks for these pictures. After your dedication to C, brought tears to my eyes.
The Birth to Death progression of flowers, C won a competition on Moblog about 10 to 12 years ago, and they printed her photos and sent them to her. They are still above our front window to the front porch she fed the birds at.
She hadn’t yet discovered the flash at dusk technique for those photos, but the theme is the same, and still, your photos are astoundingly beautiful.
