Nightjar, yes, that’s a goldfinch, the whole area was thick with them. The red-winged blackbirds and the goldfinches were singing their hearts out.
Jazzlet, our goldfinches have no red.

Aah so like your robins, similar enough to be given the name by Europeans, but not actually the same species.

I just enjoy the sight of dead trees hanging in odd angles over a body of water. It just looks frozen in time. Eerie.

Caine and jazzlet,
Yeah, sorry, I meant American goldfinches, not European! They are quite different I think, not sure why they ended up with the same name. If anything, American goldfinches look more “golden” to me.

Oh, that must have been delightful! I’ll have to look up how red-winged blackbirds sing, but if it’s anything like our blackbirds I can imagine not wanting to leave such a place. :)

These are all gorgeous, my favorite is the second to last. All that green, it’s so soothing to look at. I love the bird too, is that a goldfinch?
jazzlet says
Beautiful. Water and greeness, with dead wood for contrast.

I don’t think that is a goldfinch, they have a red br on their wings. i don’t know what it is though.
