It’s the season of big, showy flowers and the poppies are about to make their entrance. Personally, I think they look much more interesting in their bud form. Almost like they could talk to you…or eat you.
Beautiful shots! Reminds me of a fave photo I once took, the birth of a poppy. They are fascinating in that stage. Back when I used to make paper, the biggest pain to make was poppy stem paper, but the result was stunning, a gorgeous paper good for all media. I still have a few sheets. One of these days, I should make more.

I didn’t know they’d made a movie of the book, it gave me a healthy respect for large plants when I read it in my teens.
I like poppies at all stages, in bud, in flower, but perhaps best of all the seed heads especially when they get to the skeleton stage.
