My book describes it as medium to tall, hairy, with toothed lanceolate short stalked leaves., flowers 15-20mm very fragrant. But in my experience you do have to take these things as a guideline, plants are so much more variable in their growth than birds or animals. At first glance I thought it might be Honesty, but I guess you’d know if you had that, the seed heads are so distinctive.

The genus name Hesperis is Greek for evening and the name was probably given because the scent of the flowers becomes more conspicuous towards evening.

Mm-mmmm! I love flowers that do this, the scent is usually particularly lovely and light.
